UPDATE: Wonkette Editor Alex Pareene Run Out of Town After Ex-Pals Learn of His Affair With Married Woman… Threats to Reveal More of His Secrets Loom

This week Gawker Media announced that 22-year-old New York University dropout Alex Pareene would soon become the newest editor at the company’s NYC-based media blog. Gawker commenters, as usual, were abuzz with speculation about Nick Denton’s latest boy toy. Many wondered whether he likes men or women, and most wanted to know much more about his personal life, since Gawker usually does a thorough job of highlighting such details about its subjects.

Pareene, of course, has been an editor at one of Gawker’s other flagship publications, Wonkette, since January 2006, having taken that job over from the infamous Ana Marie Cox, a self-described lover of ass fucking and now Time.com’s top online editor. Blog rankings, according to Alexa data, have been sharply down during his tenure.

While it’s unknown whether Pareene shares Cox’ affinity for butt sex, he has been known literally suck on cell phones – maybe that’s his version of phone sex? – and he’s made friends with many of Washington’s media elite, despite trying his darnedest to maintain a hipster image. A tipster just pointed Big Head DC to a message sent by the stepmother of Wonkette’s editor Alex Pareene. The lady’s gone by quite a few names, including Wendy Wilde, Wendy Pareene and Wendy Introwitz Pareene, and she has a lot to say about her poor “scrawny” son, who apparently can’t stand up for himself in a fight:

tell me why my scrawny white teen son has 3 times been beaten up by different black kids in different situations… twice robbed… once left unconscious… but never beaten or robbed by white kids? Our house has been broken into and robbed 4 times… 3 of the 4 times by blacks… once by a white guy… yet our area of town is 49% white, roughly 24% black and 23% Hispanic. If the population percentages were true to crime stats, my son should have been beaten up more often by white thugs, and our house should have been robbed by whites twice, blacks once and Hispanics once.

Wow. Having never realized the sorrows of his life until now, we feel totally bad for picking on him for all these months. Still, we gotta wonder why the kids beat him up in the first place. Any ideas?
