BHDC 'Tony Snow' File:

tony-snow.jpgBeltway sources tell Big Head DC that former Bush administration Press Secretary Tony Snow will make his debut on CNN tomorrow night during coverage of the Pennsylvania primary.

There’s some inside media speculation that this move may be CNN’s response to try to blunt praise Karl Rove has received as a pundit this primary season on FOX News.

But the bigger question is whether a short term former Bushie like Snow will even make an impact…look no further than former Bush communications director Nicolle Wallace on CBS — has anyone heard a thing about her?

For those of you who remember Snow before his White House days, he was a host of FOX News Sunday until 2003 at which point the network relegated him to radio to make room for Chris Wallace.

UPDATE: CNN confirms the move in a press release issued after Big Head DC broke the news:

Former White House press secretary Tony Snow will join CNN as a conservative commentator beginning today, it was announced by Jon Klein, president of CNN/U.S. A well-known and respected observer of politics with a longstanding news background, Snow will contribute to CNN as the network continues to broadcast winning political coverage.

Snow most recently served as press secretary to President George W. Bush from April 2006 to September 2007. For 10 years beginning in 1996, he appeared on Fox News Channel, hosting Fox News Sunday, Weekend Live with Tony Snow and other programs. From 2003 to 2006, The Tony Snow Show aired on Fox News Radio.

Before joining Fox, Snow served as a substitute “From the Right” co-host for CNN’s Crossfire.

President Bush just gushed that he “loves” retiring White House Press Secretary Tony Snow.

“I’m naturally inclined to like the President,” responded Snow. “He is generous. He is extremely kind.”

And Bush lavished this bit of praise - ? - on Snow’s pretty blond replacement Dana Perino: “She’s capable.”

Um! Not the best way to deflect the Gay Old Party jokes, if you ask us.

We’re all for working hard, but Tony Snow doesn’t look ready to take on the stressful tasks involved with White House press secretary-ing – for this White House, especially. Dana Perino, however, looks mah-velous! C’mon, let the lady take over for a while, Tony.

OK, at first I didn’t think that all the hoopla about Nancy Pelosi flying around in a time-saving, yet gas-guzzlng, fancy jet was that big of a deal. Sure, she has bugged out eyes, but I wasn’t gonna crucify her for doing exactly what I would do if I was in the position to abuse my power.

Today, however, my opinion has changed: The White House is defending her, so I know now that she must be truly be an evil Al Gorilla in disguise.

“This is a silly story, and I think it’s been unfair to the speaker,” Tony Snow said at a White House briefing yesterday. “We think it’s important that the speaker of the House enjoy the same kind of security that we arranged for Speaker Hastert in the wake of Sept. 11. And like I said, I think that there’s been a lot of overhyped reporting on this.”

When Tony Snow starts defending Nancy, you know one of two things is true: hell has frozen over, or she’s out to destroy the world. It may be cold outside, but I’m pretty sure hell is still burning. She must be stopped immediately, kids. You know what to do. Write your Congressman.

Filed under: Lame, New York Times, Tony Snow

He raises election funds as the press secretary and thinks President Bush looks really hot in a tight cardigan, reports the NY Times:

“Yesterday,” Mr. Snow declared, “I was in the Oval Office with the president ——”

He cut himself off, took a perfectly calibrated three-second pause and switched into an aw-shucks voice for dramatic effect: “I just looove saying that! Yeaaah, I was in the Oval Office. Just meeee and the president. Nooooobody else.”

He also said, “The press secretary serves two masters.” Now, that’s some kinky shit. We wonder, does he have to call his masters “sir”?
