BHDC 'Sun Myung Moon' File:

Most people know that the media-arm of Rev. Sun Myung Moon’s Unification Church own the Washington Times — and questions of his tolerance of homosexuals in that newsroom has long been questioned. But, as a keen Big Head DC reader points out, United Press International, too, has ties to Moon, who has called for the destruction of LGBT people. In a speech in 1997 he said: “What is the meaning of lesbians and homosexuals? That is the place where all different kinds of dung collect. We have to end that behavior. When this kind of dirty relationship is taking place between human beings, God cannot be happy.” Wonder what the gays in UPI’s newsroom, which tends to pride itself on tolerance (much moreso than the Washington Times), think about that?

Top editors are apparently getting crankier and louder as Preston Moon, son of Korean Unification Church leader and Washington Times financier Sun Myung Moon, prepares to announce a more liberal replacement for editor-in-chief Wesley Pruden.

Managing editor Frances Coombs’ loud outbursts have already been well-documented by Big Head DC, but yesterday another scathing yelling match broke out among top staff, we hear from newsroom sources. More details to follow…

It’s no secret that The Washington Times has long been gawked at and whispered about, due in part to the conservative slant of a popular paper within an awfully liberal town, partly to its ownership by a religious zealot like Rev. Sun Myung Moon, and partly to the management styles of editor-in-chief Wesley Pruden and managing editor Frances Coombs.

Rumors of sexism, racism and general ill-will within the walls of the Times are pretty much commonplace. Most current and former employees, though, don’t go on the record to add weight to the gossip. After all, many want to keep working in this town, and some don’t want to face the wrath that would likely ensue from their bosses.

Slowly and surely, however, voices are coming out of the woodwork. Read more…

Remember when we predicted that the Washington Time’s conservative hatchet job called Insight would decry the NY Times’s liberal biases (and its ugly hair, too) after the paper’s recent negative report on the operation? Well, we were right, and their response is a doozy:

The Times is trying to obscure the real issue: Hillary Clinton’s campaign had been conducting extensive opposition research on her main ‘08 Democratic rival, and they were zeroing in on his Muslim background. This is the truth. This is exactly what we actually reported. This is what actually happened. We got it first and we got it right. No amount of spinning and mud-slinging from the liberal media can change this.

She’s a whore, get it? And the Times is a whore-monger, double-get it? But that’s not all:

In short, Mr. Kirkpatrick has proven that he is a liar, a propagandist and a smear merchant. His judgment as a journalist is also very weak: why does he spend so much time and energy attacking us— fellow journalists who are committed to exposing the truth—instead of applying the same intense effort to pursuing Hillary’s activities further, as any honest reporter would do in this case? It is precisely Mr. Kirkpatrick’s kind of biased, inaccurate, politically motivated reporting that has led The Times to lose circulation and influence—and why “New Media” publications, such as Insight, are surging forward. The New York Times is going the way of disco. And pernicious articles like Mr. Kirkpatrick’s are the reason why.

Yep, he’s a whore, too. All the world’s a whore. Except for Insight.

wednesday11.gifPeople are always gonna remember that Hillary Clinton didn’t stay home and bake cookies in her marriage. And somehow technology is to blame.

Once again, Judy Miller protects the Administration. Poor Scooter.

Barack Obama has “frozen out” FOX News because they ran with the false Washington Times/Insight story. Sadly, “no one is suggesting the icy conditions are permanent.”

Barry “goes further” than rivals. Hot.

Last night, Hil was out and about poking people. Hotter.

President Bush is trying to change the climate. Boiling hot. Literally.

“There will be no COLA adjustment,” says a sad Steny Hoyer. And he’s not talking about Pepsi vs. Coke.

As Bush tries to sell his new domestic program, he visits Peoria to see whether it plays in, well, you know the rest.

Iraq has shattered the GOP into a million little pieces. And even all the king’s men can’t put ‘em together again. Waaaah.

Air Force members to start getting screwed Army-style.

fishhole4.gifJan. 17, a.m.: Conservative rag, Insight, published by the Washington Times, smears Hillary Clinton; says she plans to attack Barack Obama’s religious roots.

Jan 17, p.m.: All liberal news outlets discredit the story.

Jan. 18, a.m.: Remaining news outlets, sans conservative ones, also discredit the story.

Jan. 18 - present: Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, FOX News stand by the story even as both Hil and Barack say it’s utterly false.

Yesterday: Jeffrey T. Kuhner, editor of Insight, tells NY Times that the original article is as “solid as solid can be.” Declines to say who reported the story, as well as who the reporter’s sources are.  Kuhner says Insight stopped using bylines “to encourage contributions from reporters for major news organizations.” He also notes his disappointment that Matt Drudge didn’t link to the story.

Today: NY Times article is published.

Later today: Insight will decry NY Time’s liberal bias.

Tomorrow: Original story will finally be linked to on Drudge.

Tomorrow, p.m.: Apocalypse.
