He’s good enough, he’s smart enough and, gosh darn it, people like him. Comedian Al Franken, best known for playing a gay SNL character, is hinting that he wants to be a Senator (from Minnesota, but, still, a Senator).

Republican incumbent Norm Coleman is trying to pretend that he’s not scared of a guy in a light blue sweater, but his words betray him. He told McClatchy Newspapers that Franken “obviously has a sense of humor” by calling his PAC “Midwest Values.”

“Hollywood values aren’t Midwest,” Coleman proclaimed, “and the money isn’t Midwest.”

To add insult to injury, foes of Franken are also noting that he’s been hosting his radio program from New York (until he retires on Valentine’s Day), and would amount to just another Hillary Clinton-esque carpetbagger. Ironically, Coleman grew up in New York, and didn’t move to Minnesota until an adult.

We think Coleman doth protest too much. If Franken does end up running, he’s gonna have to overcome one mighty obstacle: His big, crazy, googly muppet eyes.

MSNBC keeps showing that damn Hillary clip from NBC’s SNL. Shout-out to the producers: show our parody. Now. Please.

Their official SNL “not-so-funny video clip analyst,” Joe Watkins, just explained that YouTube is going to revolutionize the ‘08 elections. Ya think? And he doesn’t have a MySpace page. Lame.

BHDC’s cheap, lame impression of that stiffly Hillary Clinton is much more dead-on than Amy Poehler’s Saturday Night Live intro chat with Darrell Hammond’s same old Chris Matthews this weekend. She gave Hil a Southern twang at times and used a deep voice that lacked any shrill qualities. She should def stick to her Kim Jong Il impression and other surreal characters, like her unicorn-lovin’ Perriwinkle, which she showed off later in the evening. She also needs a lot more bags and wrinkles to play Mrs. Bill.

Also, was it just me or was Hammond actually funny during his Weekend Update Rich Little performance (Little is emceeing the White House Correspondents dinner this year)? I guess if you stay on the show for one hundred years, you actually start to improve?
