While the John Edwards campaign has failed to release any statements on the matter yet, the National Enquirer has now updated its story regarding a possible Edwards love child with former staffer Rieille Hunter (aka Lisa Druck):

The ENQUIRER spotted Rielle — visibly pregnant in a black sweater and loose-fitting slacks — leaving her OB/GYN’s office in Cary, N.C., on Dec. 12.

And when asked for a comment about her relationship with Edwards by an ENQUIRER reporter, Rielle responded: “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

Asked why she was living in Young’s gated community, she answered: “I have no idea what you are talking about.”

When asked who fathered her baby, she answered: “I have no idea who you’re talking about or what you’re talking about.”

She even denied that she was Rielle Hunter!

But things changed dramatically when The ENQUIRER contacted Edwards for a comment just days later. Read more…

Facing another major embarrassment, the White House is working overtime to make it appear that 16-year-old Vífill Atlason did not decipher President George W. Bush’s secret phone number after Jenna Bush called her dad during a recent taping of the Ellen show.

In fact, in an effort to cover-up the story, White House spokeswoman Emily Lawrimore lied to ABC News, saying that that the Icelandic teen did not dial the private number but instead dialed 202-456-1414, the main switchboard for the West Wing.

“But that was not the case,” according to the report. “The student gave ABC News the number. It is indeed an extention off the White House switchboard and goes to a security command post office in the building next door to the White House.”

Atlason’s mother has expressed surprise that the White House would carry out a defamation plot against her son, but Atlason himself is taking the situation in stride.

“If the number were not top secret, why would the police have told me that I will be put on a no-fly list to America?” Vífill asked. “I don’t see how calling the White House is a crime. But obviously, they took it very seriously.”

The Icelandic teen who somehow figured out President George W. Bush’s secret phone number, creating an international security scare in the process, has been revealed in various news reports from Iceland. You’ll recall that the youngster recently left a message on Bush’s private line, saying he was the president of Iceland, and he wanted a call back. His real name name is Vífill Atlason, he’s 16, full of pimples — and he looks like just the type to be able to pull a fast one on Dubya. (Click the thumbnail for the larger shot.)

An Icelandic teen, MSNBC reports, figured out President Bush’s private phone number, and called it recently, leaving a message saying he was the president of Iceland and wanted Bush to call him back. When police visited the teen, after being alerted by Secret Service, he would not say how he learned the top-secret number. Big Head DC is speculating that he somehow deciphered the code from when Jenna Bush called her parents during a recent taping of the Ellen show.

With the Internet abuzz of rumors that the LA Times is holding a devastating politico sex scandal story, new word is coming from the newspaper that President Bush recently met with several reporters in a rare off-the-record session.

The information disseminated in the Monday meeting cannot be reported, under terms of an agreement reached by the White House and fourteen elite Washington reporters.

White House press secretary Dana Perino is quoted as saying the effort was a way “to be creative to try to provide some access to the president” short of full-blown news conferences.

“It was just a new tool we’d like to have in our toolbox,” she told the LAT.

UPDATE: Wonkette Editor Alex Pareene Run Out of Town After Ex-Pals Learn of His Affair With Married Woman… Threats to Reveal More of His Secrets Loom

This week Gawker Media announced that 22-year-old New York University dropout Alex Pareene would soon become the newest editor at the company’s NYC-based media blog. Gawker commenters, as usual, were abuzz with speculation about Nick Denton’s latest boy toy. Many wondered whether he likes men or women, and most wanted to know much more about his personal life, since Gawker usually does a thorough job of highlighting such details about its subjects.

Pareene, of course, has been an editor at one of Gawker’s other flagship publications, Wonkette, since January 2006, having taken that job over from the infamous Ana Marie Cox, a self-described lover of ass fucking and now Time.com’s top online editor. Blog rankings, according to Alexa data, have been sharply down during his tenure.

While it’s unknown whether Pareene shares Cox’ affinity for butt sex, he has been known literally suck on cell phones – maybe that’s his version of phone sex? – and he’s made friends with many of Washington’s media elite, despite trying his darnedest to maintain a hipster image. We’re still a bit incredulous on this one, but a top level U.S. Department of Justice official is telling Big Head DC that Michael Musto’s rumor about Hillary Clinton fooling around with one of her top female aides Huma Abedin is based in reality!

“I am close enough to Hillary and Huma to tell you that this ‘rumor’ is true,” the official says. “It is well known inside her campaign that Hillary and Huma are an item.

“If you call Hillary’s residence in DC first thing in the morning, Huma answers the phone,” the official continues. “Same thing late at night and on the road. It’s a closely guarded secret that Hillary’s inner circle guards at all costs.”

Make of that what you will, kids. But know this: The official is someone who has proven highly credible in the past.
