DCRTV is reporting that Rush Limbaugh was a “no show” at a big Meet the Press anniversary party last night, despite his earlier RSVP that he would attend — a big etiquette no no, except for, maybe, if one is dealing with a drug addiction relapse.

DCRTV reports that Rush Limbaugh “will be taking a break from his anti-Hillary Clinton campaign to pay a visit to DC on Wednesday evening. That’s when a motorcade will wisk “El Rushbo” from his private jet at Dulles to the 60th anniversary party for NBC’s Meet the Press at the new Newseum near Capitol Hill.” Which is sort of odd, since Limbaugh has made his disgust for Tim Russert known many times over. Of course, we love to play with our enemies, too, so we shouldn’t talk.

We’ve grown so accustomed to hearing conservative radio talking Michael Savage call Media Matters a “bunch of liberal gay fascists” that it took us by surprise to see praise for the left wing media watchdog organization. In fact, Jeff Bercovici, of Portfolio, goes so far as to say the group is “good for everyone.” Even Rush Limbaugh! Read more…

Some wacky stuff happened in our media world over the past several days, and we’re still trying to sort it all out. A friend suggested that writing our thoughts down in a list form might help. After pondering the top stories at Digg (”ten pen tricks to do when you’re not jacking off” and “five ways to make your chest bigger” ), we figured everybody likes lists anyways, so why the hell not:
1) Why did MSNBC bail on reporter David Shuster for asking Rep. Marsha Blackburn a simple question?
The net’s soon-to-be former General Manager Dan Abrams made Shuster issue an apology to Blackburn on-air after he asked the congresswoman to name the last soldier to die from her district. When Blackburn didn’t know the answer, Shuster said that Jeremy Bohannon was that person — which soon became a source of controversy, with some conservatives saying that Bohannon was not from Blackburn’s district. Before that important detail could be sorted out, Abrams made an unhappy Shuster apologize because he thought Shuster had gotten it wrong. In the end, it turned out that Bohannon was from Blackburn’s district.
Hopefully Abrams made it up to Shuster in private — not that he has much incentive to do so, since he’s in the process of leaving his management job to become the permanent host of the network’s 9 p.m. hour, which was vacated by Joe Scarborough earlier this year.

Gag reflexes, be warned.
Regular listeners of Rush Limbaugh (we are not one of them!) have reported that the conservative talker has taken to hawking an unusual item during his daily radio show.
No, not Viagra! It’s pig-flavored java that he can’t get enough of.
When he recently started plugging Maple Bacon Flavored Coffee on air, some listeners thought it was a joke. Read more…

Breaking! GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham is apparently only 90 percent conservative, having “gained a reputation for sometimes speaking out against or criticizing the party line, as well as being open to making compromises.”
Thus, Rush Limbaugh’s fans, thanks to his encouragement, have decided to make the pretty-eyed Senator pay, Wikipedia-style:
Get it? “Grahamnesty” means Graham is too nice. Too compromising. And, possibly, too light in his loafers (on immigration reform, of course)?
Mark Levin, another radio guy you might have heard of, has taken the name calling one step further with this classy moniker: “Goober Lindsey Graham.”
Hmmm. With friends like these…

Jan. 17, a.m.: Conservative rag, Insight, published by the Washington Times, smears Hillary Clinton; says she plans to attack Barack Obama’s religious roots.
Jan 17, p.m.: All liberal news outlets discredit the story.
Jan. 18, a.m.: Remaining news outlets, sans conservative ones, also discredit the story.
Jan. 18 - present: Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, FOX News stand by the story even as both Hil and Barack say it’s utterly false.
Yesterday: Jeffrey T. Kuhner, editor of Insight, tells NY Times that the original article is as “solid as solid can be.” Declines to say who reported the story, as well as who the reporter’s sources are. Kuhner says Insight stopped using bylines “to encourage contributions from reporters for major news organizations.” He also notes his disappointment that Matt Drudge didn’t link to the story.
Today: NY Times article is published.
Later today: Insight will decry NY Time’s liberal bias.
Tomorrow: Original story will finally be linked to on Drudge.
Tomorrow, p.m.: Apocalypse.

Only on the boob tube. Rush Limbaugh has already taped an appearance on FOX News’ soon-to-debut “Half-Hour News Hour,” playing the POTUS, with Ann Coulter as his VP.
But the program, which producers have said is inspired by The Daily Show, isn’t necessarily ready to play in Jon Stewart’s league right out of the gate.
“It was hit and miss—some stuff was inspired, and some was droppable, to say the least,” a source who attended a recent taping has told Radar Online.
Comedians Kurt Long and Susan Yeagley co-anchor the program; correspondents includes original Daily Show player Brian Unger.

First Rush Limbaugh dumps her, now this. Since being fired this year from CNN after twelve years of work, Daryn Kagan is planning to try her darnedest to turn the world on with her smile. Her new Web site will officially launch on November 13 and already comes with this sunny slogan:
One Woman. One Radical Idea: The World is a Good Place.
It’s apparently going to be a destination “to stop in for daily inspiration to improve your world.” Wait, wait — we thought that’s why Martha Stewart and Big Head Rob existed already… Ah well, we’ll play along for now: Best of luck, Daryn.
