BHDC 'Rudy Giuliani' File:

Filed under: Hillary Clinton, Elections, Barack Obama, John McCain, Rudy Giuliani

Rudy2012While the rest of us are still focused on 2008, Rudy Giuliani is already taking contributions for the 2012 election year at JoinRudy2012.com. Is it a sign Giuliani is worried about John McCain’s chances against Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama?

For you cybersquatters out there, JoinRudy2016.com is still available but you better act quick. Word is that Rudy may soon throw his hat in the ring for that one, too.

Mitt Romney accused Ron Paul of not understanding Islamic Jihadism, and Rudy Giuliani said Paul’s foreign policy is flawed during tonight’s ABC News debate. Paul’s war opinions became center stage many times during the proceedings.

Paul, who has been left out of a forum to take place on FOX News tomorrow evening, become a last minute addition to the lineup after the ABC News network received criticism for initially excluding the GOP congressman.

Update, 3:30 p.m.: Judith Nathan has released a statement indicating that all tests performed on her husband while he stayed at the hospital last night and today were “precautionary” in nature. Giuliani is expected to be released this hour and will head straight to NYC.

Original, 2:56 p.m.: Rudy Giuliani’s illness is much more serious than the flu and may force him to drop out of the GOP race for president, Big Head DC is hearing from a person close to the former NYC mayor. A second source has not yet confirmed this information. Giuliani’s wife is expected to make an announcement soon.

Republican candidate Tom Tancredo dropped out of the race today and endorsed Mitt Romney.

The New York Post reports:

Larry Flynt won’t be sleeping in the Lincoln Bedroom if Rudy Giuliani is elected president. In a Web exclusive on VanityFair.com, the Hustler publisher slams Giuliani for moving in with a gay couple after he split from Donna Hanover: “I don’t hate gays. But I don’t want to live in an apartment full of them. They’ll bitch and cry and all. That doesn’t bother Giuliani. It doesn’t bother Giuliani to put a dress on to do ‘Saturday Night Live.’ I don’t trust him.” Flynt - who’s offering $1 million for evidence of illicit sexual encounters with lawmakers and Cabinet members - told the Web site, “Why do you break up with your wife and move in with gay guys?”

rudy-ill.jpgRudy Giuliani, that’s who. Or at least that’s what his campaign is saying after he spent the night and morning at a St. Louis hospital having a battery of tests performed. But excuse us for being a little skeptical that a simple case of the flu is the cause of his lengthy stay. Remember the last big election in which Giuliani was supposed to run against Hillary Clinton for a senate seat in New York? He ended up getting prostate cancer. As his poll numbers continue to slide, watch out for a recurrence. The mind-body connection just might be getting the best of him.

pants-on-fire.jpg“I am one of the four or five most well-known Americans in the world,” GOP presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani said while on the campaign trail in September. But the kids over at Politifact.com have done some scientific research, and have - you guessed it - determined that the former NYC major is not one of the most famous Americans.

They gave him a “pants on fire” award for his misstatement.

Filed under: Journalism, Washington Post, Politico, Barack Obama, Jim VandeHei, Rudy Giuliani, Ben Smith

jim.PNGDon’t think for a second that smiley Politico editor Jim VandeHei doesn’t have a mile-long enemy list. All of those Washington Post staffers who didn’t show up to his farewell party last December when he decided to jump ship to run the Politico are definitely on it. Which is partially why after the Washington Post ran a piece Monday highlighting Rudy Giuliani’s distaste for the Politico, it’s not that surprising that the Politico has now blatantly attacked the Post for its coverage of Barack Obama.

VandeHei’s feelings, we hear, were “deeply hurt” when the Post ran with a quote by Maria Comella, a Giuliani spokeswoman, who said that a recent Politico story by Ben Smith was “neatly packaged in a very salacious and somewhat misleading way. There are inaccuracies in the piece and a mischaracterization of the situation that lends itself to being described as the mayor described it.”

“Jim was deeply hurt and angry,” a journalist close to the situation tells Big Head DC. “He immediately began looking for ways to find revenge.”

The revenge came in the quick form of a Tuesday Politico hit piece involving a recent WaPo story that spells out clearly that Barack Obama DOES NOT having Muslim ties. However, the Politico piece makes it appear as though the Post somehow reported that Obama DOES have Muslim ties.

The Politico piece by Michael Calderone doesn’t even link to the Post’s original story.

One thing’s for sure: As VandeHei grows increasingly keen on competing with his former employer, watch out for more underhanded and biased journalism coming from his camp.

rudy-three.jpgOur new guilty pleasure blog Deceiver.com (eat your heart out Jason Linkins) is noting three big, bad Rudy discrepancies from his time as mayor:

That New York during his tenure was “the only city in America that has reduced crime every single year since 1994.” Chicago is in America too, though.

That he cut spending by 7 percent; his own memoir says it grew by 3.4 percent.

That he increased the police force from 28,000 to 40,000, when most of that was due to a merger of the NYPD with the Transit and Housing Police Departments.

Politicians making things up. Can you believe it?
