BHDC 'Rielle Hunter' File:

From Politico today:

Recently Couric got attention with CBS’s “Primary Questions” series — especially since one segment focused on asking candidates the uncomfortable question about marital infidelity, which was linked prominently on the Drudge Report.

Is it just us, or is there an undercurrent in the press that one of these people running for POTUS has cheated? And, mind you, that’s despite strong denials from John Edwards that he cheated with Rielle Hunter.

elizabeth-edwards.jpgIn a pre-taped interview set to air on tonight’s CBS News, Katie Couric will ask Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards about the importance of marital fidelity. His answers were recorded before the National Enquirer published its expose regarding his alleged love child with former campaign staffer Rielle Hunter. In the following exchange, note how he artfully weaves and dodges her questions:

KATIE COURIC: Harry Truman said, “A man not honorable in his marital relations is not usually honorable in any other.” Some people don’t feel comfortable supporting a candidate who has not remained faithful to his or her spouse. Can you understand their position?

SEN. JOHN EDWARDS: Of course. I mean, for a lot of Americans– including the family that I grew up with, I mean, it’s– it’s fundamental to– how you judge people and human character– whether you keep your word, whether you keep what is your ultimate word, which is that– you love– your spouse, and you’ll stay with them.

KATIE COURIC: Do you think– what– what about people who use that as a way to evaluate a candidate? In other words, there have been a number of fine presidents according to some analysts-

SEN. JOHN EDWARDS: Right.

KATIE COURIC: –who have certainly not been sort of exhibited the greatest moral character–

SEN. JOHN EDWARDS: Right.

KATIE COURIC: –when it comes to infidelity–

SEN. JOHN EDWARDS: Right.

KATIE COURIC: –I guess is what I’m getting at.

SEN. JOHN EDWARDS: Yes.

KATIE COURIC: So how important do you think it is in the grand scheme of things?

SEN. JOHN EDWARDS: I think the most important qualities in a president in today’s world are trustworthiness– sincerity, honesty, strength of leadership. And– and certainly that goes to a part of that. It’s not the whole thing. But it goes to a part of it.

KATIE COURIC: So you think it’s– an appropriate way to judge a candidate?

SEN. JOHN EDWARDS: Yeah. But I don’t think it’s controlling. I mean, I think that, as you point out, there have been American presidents that at least according to the– to the stories we’ve all heard– that were not faithful, that were in fact good presidents. So I don’t think it controls the issue. But I think it’s certain– something reasonable for people to consider.

rielle-hunter-john-edwards-baby.jpgWhile the John Edwards campaign has failed to release any statements on the matter yet, the National Enquirer has now updated its story regarding a possible Edwards love child with former staffer Rieille Hunter (aka Lisa Druck):

The ENQUIRER spotted Rielle — visibly pregnant in a black sweater and loose-fitting slacks — leaving her OB/GYN’s office in Cary, N.C., on Dec. 12.

And when asked for a comment about her relationship with Edwards by an ENQUIRER reporter, Rielle responded: “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

Asked why she was living in Young’s gated community, she answered: “I have no idea what you are talking about.”

When asked who fathered her baby, she answered: “I have no idea who you’re talking about or what you’re talking about.”

She even denied that she was Rielle Hunter!

But things changed dramatically when The ENQUIRER contacted Edwards for a comment just days later. Read more…

“The love child story is definitely not dead,” a National Enquirer source tells Big Head DC. The link for the story now works here:

“Due to a website malfunction a summary of the story went live last night for a brief time,” David Perel, Editor in Chief of the National Enquirer, further explained via e-mail. “It was then taken down because it was scheduled to be released this morning.”

How did John Edwards meet his alleged mistress Rielle Hunter (aka Lisa Druck)? He commissioned her small, largely unknown film production company called Midline Groove Productions last year to help create a series of intimate videos showing him in a supposedly flattering light. Hunter played his director for many of the segments, which saw Edwards really open up, and lose his “plastic Ken doll” quality, as he is heard saying in one of the videos. Both Edwards and Hunter appear very loose in the lips when he’s discussing the scripting of a speech in the video below:
