Rep. Dennis Kucinich announced that he will force a vote next week on his resolution calling for the impeachment of Vice President Dick Cheney.
“The momentum is building for impeachment,” Kucinich said in a statement released on his Web site. “Millions of citizens across the nation are demanding Congress rein in the Vice President’s abuse of power.
Kucinich’s resolution, which has 21 Democratic co-sponsors, is expected to be tabled and killed. Nancy Pelosi has indicated that a Cheney impeachment is “off the table.”

permalinkNancy Nord, the head of the Consumer Product Safety Commission, has announced that she won’t heed Democratic lawmakers’ calls for her resignation. She also opposes Democratic efforts to double her agency’s funding and give it more authority.
“At this point I have no intention of resigning,” she told the AP. “I’m doing my job, and part of my job is to talk with Congress about the tools and resources we need.” Yesterday Nancy Pelosi said Nord should resign.
It’s also being reported that Nord rejected criticism that she is controlled by the White House and too cozy with manufacturers.
On FOX News Sunday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said that she was not briefed by the Bush administration regarding 2005 secret memos that contained details of U.S. torture policy. President Bush has indicated that Congress was briefed.
Pelosi later added that she’s been praying for the president.
