BHDC 'Mike Gravel' File:

digglogo.gifBig Head DC first alerted you to the vast discrepancy between friends of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama on Digg.com in December and since that time, Obama’s numbers have continued to greatly outnumber Hillary’s. Obama currently has 12,031 online friends while Hillary only has 1,497 supporters and trails fringe Democratic candidate Mike Gravel by over 1,300.

Is something fishy going on at Digg.com headquarters?

Mike Gravel, Democratic candidate for President, said yesterday: “I’m prepared to tell you that Americans are getting fatter and dumber. I have no problem saying that.” Not a way to make friends. Not a way to win votes. Not a way to get out of last place. But, still, honest. And for that, we should all clap our fat, stupid hands.

mike_gravel1.jpgMike Gravel, the longest of long shots for the Democratic Presidential nomination, is having car troubles. In fact, he so hates the cost of DC parking garages, the Washington Post reports, that when he formally announced his candidacy President last April he rejected taking his car in favor of riding the Metro subway to the National Press Club, the site of his kickoff announcement.

Gravel’s motor detail — much to the chagrin of staffers — has gotten increasingly intense.

“There’ve gotta be spaces with meters,” a reporter recently observed Gravel telling a campaign adviser while in route to a campaign event. Read more…

margaret_carlson.jpg9:13: The Bloomberg News political columnist’s first world of the evening: “lesbian.” And then she said it again for good measure. Doogie Howser is in the L.A.-based crowd. Hey, wait, he’s not a lesbian.

Barack Obama was the first to confirm his appearance at the LOGO/Human Rights Campaign forum, so he’s the first to pop his cherry with the gay round table, which consists of the president of the Human Rights Campaign, a black WaPo reporter and Melissa Etheridge. Yes, she’s a lesbian.

Barack’s tending to be boring and not seeming to have much flair.

We’re done liveblogging about Barack unless something really gay, or at least until something interesting happens.

9:23: John Edwards is next in the hot seat. Hair is looking nicely coiffed as usual.

9:26: Edwards says he’s comfortable around gay people. Especially a room full of gay people.

9:34: Edwards says he shouldn’t have said his faith prevents him from supporting gay marriage. “From my perspective, it it wrong…to impose my faith belief on the American people…” Still, his position on same sex marriage has not changed, he adds. “All I can tell you is where I am today.”

9:41: Shorty Kucinich is up to bat. “Imagine the equal sign inside a heart,” says he. “I stand for real equality.” Yup, he’s a gay icon. He may be short, but he’s bigger than Madonna in that respect.

9:45: Does anyone else wanna shrink Denny down and carry him around? He’s like an elfin hippie. All full of love. Read more…

gravel.jpgFormer Alaskan Senator and everybody’s favorite unknown Democratic presidential candidate Maurice Robert “Mike” Gravel plans to headline the Queerty blog’s Gay Pride spectacular on Thursday evening at the Hotel Chelsea in NYC.

“In the running for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination, Sen. Gravel has bestowed us the extreme honor of meeting Queerty’s readers,” according to an e-mail sent today by event organizers. “He tells us that he’s thrilled to be welcome at this first-ever Queerty event — so we hope you’ll join us in hosting him.”

(Oh, we bet they’ll “host” him real, real good, especially since he supports same-sex marriage and opposes the Defense of Marriage Act.)

David Hauslaib, an editor with Queerty’s parent gossip blog Jossip, assures Big Head DC that Gravel wasn’t offered money in exchange for his snazzy presence.

“Ha ha, no, no payment,” Hauslaib told us with a grin. “I think he’s there for the free drinks, too!”

Plus, DJ Nicholas Weist will be spinning all night long!!!

First, Radar called the DC investigative reporter a “weird and lonely” source for David Letterman’s recent crack about Dick Cheney’s possible involvement with the “DC Madam.” Madsen soon responded on Big Head DC, saying that Radar is “obviously linked to the right-wing and the neocons,” adding that we’re “started partly with seed money from Mort Zuckerman, one of Bush’s toadies in the MSM.”

Well, the Radar folks read that, and got pretty pissed. In a post titled “Blogger Gets Weirder and Lonelier,” they quote  BHDC’s interview, and say that “[t]his might be the first time our actual backers have been accused of being neocons.”

“Before you go charging, Wayne, you might want to learn how do some basic reporting,” the editors add. “Google’s a good start. We await your correction.”

But Madsen’s not stepping down. He’s now responded to the post on his site: “Let’s see: a left-wing site goes after David Letterman for his comment about Cheney and the DC Madam and insurgent Democratic presidential candidate Mike Gravel. I think we know what they are.”

Yes, the allegations are flying, kids. And we bet Deborah Jeane Palfrey definitely never knew her case would lead here.

Democratic Presidential candidate and former Alaska Sen. Mike Gravel announced his plan for Iraq recently in - where else? - a stinky, yet sexy, dorm room. Makes total sense to us:

After the interview we hear that Gravel asked who was up for a panty raid.
