Officials with the Cable News Network released a lengthy and unprecedented response this afternoon to Michael Moore’s allegations that reporters there have been biased in their coverage of his cinematic ode to the errors of the American health care industry, “SiCKO.”

“In our original report, we made one mistake, which we apologized for and corrected on air and online six days ago, despite Mr. Moore’s claim yesterday in his letter to us,” a spokesman said. “Further, the e-mail Mr. Moore released in an effort to cast doubt on our reporting does no such thing.

Translation: Shut up, fatty.

moore1.jpgDespite his image as a bastion of all things liberal, filmmaker Michael Moore was seen by Big Head DC pulling up to the big premiere of “Sicko,” his homage to the pitfalls of the American health care system, in a gas guzzler of a vehicle on Wednesday night.

His not-so-sweet ride, “a crew van, used to make movies,” he told us, caught some of the many progressives in attendance by surprise.

“Maybe he can’t fit in a hybrid,” one onlooker quipped.

“You’d think he’d know better,” said another. “Especially considering he wants Al Gore to run for president.”

Well, here’s a solution: Nobody tell Gore that Moore’s a gas whore! And maybe forget, too, to remind Gore that Moore supported Ralph Nader in 2000.

From USA Today:

As documentary filmmakers, Debbie Melnyk and Rick Caine looked up to Michael Moore.

Then they tried to do a documentary of their own about him — and ran into the same sort of resistance Moore himself famously faces in his own films.

The result is “Manufacturing Dissent,” which turns the camera on the confrontational documentarian and examines some of his methods. Among their revelations in the movie, which had its world premiere Saturday night at the South by Southwest film festival: That Moore actually did speak with then-General Motors chairman Roger Smith, the evasive subject of his 1989 debut “Roger & Me,” but chose to withhold that footage from the final cut.
