Democratic Rep. Loretta Sanchez has taken a couple of hours out of her August recess to make a cameo appearance on “The Closer,” the drama series on cable’s TNT network, starring Kyra Sedgwick.
“I played myself,'’ Sanchez told the Orange County Register. “I was playing a smart congresswoman.'’
Sanchez added that she knows the show’s creator James Duff, and when she called him to congratulate him on the show’s high ratings, Duff said he’d like to write her into one of the episodes.
Not one to turn down a romp in the spotlight, Sanchez readily agreed. She’ll appear in the second part of this season’s finale, which airs at 9 p.m. Sept. 10 on TNT. She will share her time on camera with CNN talk show host Larry King, in which he asks her about a high-profile murder. They both play themselves.
“We did one take,'’ Sanchez mused, and King turned to the director and said “perfect.'’ The director then corrected the veteran talk show host, saying he had actually flubbed one line so they did another take.
Sanchez didn’t have that problem: “For me to memorize things I write them down,'’ she explained.
