“Idaho Sen. Larry Craig acted improperly in an airport men’s room sex sting, the Senate Ethics Committee said Wednesday,” reports the AP. “In a letter, the ethics panel said Craig’s attempt to withdraw his guilty plea in a June arrest at a Minneapolis airport was an effort to evade legal consequences of his own actions.”

Why has Sen. David Vitter received much less rebuke and ridicule for his cheating on his wife with female hookers than Sen. Larry Craig has for his reported dalliances with men? We’ve lived in Washington for so long that we now rely on TV courtroom dramas to help us understand:
Which, incidentally, reminds us — God, we miss Night Court. Remember Markie Post?

permalinkChris Matthews on today’s Hardball program played an audio clip of former gay prostitute Mike Jones saying that he had once had a sexual relationship with Sen. Larry Craig. Matthews’ guest for the segment, Mike Rogers, again noted his distrust of Jones’s story, but concurrently hailed the Idaho Statesman’s weekend story, which included Jones’s account therein. How can Rogers rationalize this?

permalinkAfter all, the disgraced senator has called the newspaper “classless,” and has said its report detailing the claims of several men who claim to have had sexual encounters with him is “completely false.” Well, if it’s all not true, then why not sue?

Remember back when the David Phillips story broke about his prior relationship with Larry Craig, and we asked you to help us figure out the name of the anonymous blogger who broke that story? Until then, said blogger had always gone by the pen name “Princess Sparkle Pony.” Well. After our commenters started speculating, the blogger wrote in and confirmed what we were already piecing together. Princess Sparkle Pony is a gay man named Peter Huestis who works at the National Gallery of Art in its photo labs.
“I’m not a journalist…,” he told us defensively. “I don’t know my way around a Washington scandal.”
Right, we totally got that. But we thought all was said and done until today when a Princess Sparkle Pony (just a coincidence?) started commenting about us on Mike Rogers‘ newly controversial item involving Mike Jones and Sen. Larry Craig: Read more…

David Phillips, an Internet technician based in Washington, has recently become quite well-known for describing some dirty sexual deeds Sen. Larry Craig performed on him in 1987. And now, in several shocking audio clips with The Idaho Statesman, four more men have described their close encounters with the senator — who will not resign from office, despite having repeatedly voting against gay issues during his long career in Congress.
Among them:
- Mike Jones, a former prostitute who had already revealed last year that he had sex with the Rev. Ted Haggard. Jones now reveals Craig paid him for sex approximately three years ago. jones1sourceprod_affiliate36.mp3, jones2sourceprod_affiliate36.mp3, jones3sourceprod_affiliate36.mp3, jones4sourceprod_affiliate36.mp3
- Greg Ruth, who says he was hit on by Craig at a GOP meeting in Coeur d’Alene in 1981 — when Ruth was a college Republican. ruth1sourceprod_affiliate36.mp3
- Tom Russell, who says he had a gay encounter with Craig at Bogus Basin in the early 1980s. russell1sourceprod_affiliate36.mp3, russell2sourceprod_affiliate36.mp3, russell3sourceprod_affiliate36.mp3
- A fifth gay man, who is from Boise but who declined to be named for fear of retaliation. He says he was in a men’s restroom at Denver International Airport in September 2006 when the man in the next stall moved his hand slowly, palm up, under the divider. “Alarmed, the man said he waited outside the restroom and then identified the man in the adjoining stall as Craig, whom he had met in Idaho,” the newspaper reports.
- Also, Phillips now describes his encounter in detail: phillips1sourceprod_affiliate36.mp3, phillips2sourceprod_affiliate36.mp3, phillips3sourceprod_affiliate36.mp3
Craig declined to comment for the Statesman report, but he made the following statement to NBC’s Matt Lauer in a prime-time interview that aired Oct. 16.: “I know what people feel like when they’re profiled, when innocent people get caught up in what I was caught in as an innocent person.”

Get ready to write that letter to Santa. Just in time for the holidays, PageOneQ is alerting us to a new doll that widens his stance on demand: a lifelike miniature Larry Craig figurine for your children (or your naughty bathroom buddies).
At a price much less than the cost of one hour with a male escort, this doll is a real bargain. Stupid.com is asking only $34.99 for the chatty toy, which, if you press a button, makes quite clear it is not gay.
Added bonus: its limbs are bendable, just like the real senator’s.

UPDATE, 5:30: “Here’s my public comment, on-the-record: Sen. Lott and I have no current affiliation with one another. I’m sure he would appreciate no further scrutiny,” Benjamin Nicholas tells Big Head DC.
ORIGINAL:
Must credit Big Head DC:
Once upon a time, there was a twentysomething boy-next-door type with reddish blond hair and a brilliantly white smile. Not one to shy away from attention, he wrote a blog called “Fifteen Minutes,” and also became a freelance writer for various publications, including The Stranger in Seattle. He’d often focus on his non-traditional lifestyle as a gay male escort — a topic that often fascinated his readers, which, in turn, helped him to garner a substantial amount of powerful business acquaintances through the years.
Based in San Antonio, he would travel all over the world to meet his clients, which included high profile celebrities, businessmen and even politicians in the United States Congress.
Sometimes within his writings he’d give advice on how other males could become successful escorts. Other times he’d post videos of himself flexing on YouTube. Once, he even scolded gay escort Mike Jones for outing Rev. Ted Haggard as one of his gay escort business participants.
“You were paid for sex, Mike,” he wrote in 2006. “The most important rule you can follow when taking people’s money in exchange for sex is that—no matter what—their lives stay their own and whatever passes between the two of you remains private. Period.”
Many of his clients greatly appreciate his professionalism. In fact, according to one 66-year-old patron who reviewed him on a gay escort site, he is “a very reliable escort who keeps you informed.”
The boy happens to be real, and his “stage name” is Benjamin Nicholas. One of the politicos Big Head DC has learned he’s alleged to have been involved with is the married Sen. Trent Lott, 66, who unexpectedly announced his retirement on Monday. Lott is well-known to have been against a plethora of gay rights issues throughout his terms in Congress. He was also good friends with Sen. Larry Craig throughout his time in Congress.
Nicholas told Big Head DC today via e-mail that he didn’t want to go on the record to talk about his dealings with Lott, because, said Nicholas, “Trent is going through his fair share of scrutiny right now and I don’t want to add to it.” However, e-mail and other records confirm that the two have met on at least two occasions.
“All I can say at this point is no comment,” Nicholas told us. “It’s the professional thing for me to do.”
In a subsequent e-mail message, Nicholas confirmed that another publication is working on a story about a “possible relationship” between Lott and himself, but Nicholas also “politely declined” an interview for that story.
“As I said before, Lott has quite a bit on his plate right now and I don’t really want to add fuel to the embers,” Nicholas told Big Head DC.

Rudy Gonzales, an actor who bills himself as “one of the nation’s most requested cowboy entertainers” is a close friend of disgraced Sen. Larry Craig, Big Head DC has learned.
The above photo of Craig and his wife Suzanne currently appears on Gonzales’ Web site. The caption below it reads: “Longtime friends Senator & Suzanne Craig. Suzanne is the pretty one on the left, Idaho’s Senior Senator Larry Craig on the right, Rudy in the Middle at Sun Valley, Idaho Banquet.”
Gonzales offers these words of wisdom on his site, which also features him with other famous Idaho politicians: “When I was young the word was always, ‘keep your mouth shut and listen carefully to the old guys and you might learn something.’ And now I are one!” Hmmm. Wonder what saddle tricks he learned from Craig?

The Virginia DMV has telephoned David Phillips, aka the bear-y hairy guy who had sex with Sen Larry Craig in the 1980s, to let him know that he can keep his license plates, which read “Poofter.”
“I had sent their generic plates back last week directly to the head of the DMV with a very strong letter regarding First Amendment rights,” Phillips tells a friend. “The new manager for Special Plates called to acknowledge receipt of the substitute plates and to orally declare the issue closed.”
After DMV officials learned of the Phillips entanglement with Craig, they were quick to ask him to return his plates, as they said they received a complaint that they were somehow offensive.
Now that the squabble is over, Phillips has had time to reflect: “As I told my office mate, don’t fuck with a queen over 40 — you will not win.” Larry Craig, take note!
