kennedykloset1.gifJamming to The Bravery on my Ipod Sport inspires me to pound the pavement harder running along Rock Creek Parkway…

But tunes to swipe your credit card to?

I like!

On Sunday, June 10th CUSP in Georgetown (3030 M Street NW) is hosting the Summer of Sound Acoustic Festival from 3 to 5 p.m. Local bands, The Hard Tomorrows and indie rocker Andy Zipf will be performing, while you cash out last month’s paycheck on a new YSL bag or Chip and Pepper Jeans…

If you can’t make it out, and would rather an e-tail therapy sesh, Peruse some fashion blogs, while secretly booty dancing in your tighty whities to “Now That’s What I call Music.”

Enjoy a Fashionable Friday!

kennedykloset1.gifAh it’s that time of year again… Graduation…

My advice to you? Get out of D.C. this weekend!!! Fast!!

But what to get that graduate? If they had a Peruse.com account, you would know exactly what they need… but here are a couple of ideas…

1. Every graduate needs $$. Unsure of where they are working, they will need a couple extra bucks to pay the rent, or maybe buy a few beers in celebration.

2. Gift Certificates to Target, Costco, Crate & Barrel, etc. Maybe unglamorous, but much needed and appreciated…

3. Suit it up! Gift Certificates to Nordstrom’s lets them get everything from dress shirts to briefcases, all to help them put their best foot forward as they’re welcomed into the real world.

Okay, those are the standard. Looking for something more creative?

My aunt and family sent me this awesome package, from Pajama Gram. Inside a cute little box were some comfy pajamas, a door hanger, and a satchel to keep everything smelling fresh. Such an adorable gift for any occassion!

Another perfect gift, especially for the sports enthusiast, Urban Outfitter’s Flask Flip Flops. Designed by Reef, you get not one, but two flasks to fill and wear to watch the Nats at RFK– no worries about security, they’d never check your feet! Just don’t try sporting them on your graduation trip to Mexico. Customs may not be too thrilled when you have liquor oozing from your
feet…

Looking for a gift for the kid who has such bad A.D.D. you know a boxed set of LOST wont do? Try Monopoly Express… Perfect for this generation…

Remember your first three months of work? No time for happy hour? Well, get them something to ease their pain: Wine of the Month clubs are the gift that keeps on giving…

Finally, of course the customized flasks, clocks, business card holders,
etc are great, so don’t discount Things Remembered for something special….

Have a fashionable Friday!

kennedykloset.gifI am guilty of walking M Street like its a runway. Alert the Fashion Police, its true. Aviators on, I stroll about window shopping/people watching. Now I can do it for a cause.

I recently did a photo shoot for Fashion Fights Poverty. While it was probably the greatest day of my life, having my hair done by Audry Hemphill and make-up artist James Cornwell (both of PR @ Partners and Pretty Makeup), I learned to “Dress Responsibly.”

Coming from the girl who moved to the East Coast with a single suitcase, and in 18 months has single handedly accumulated enough to stock any local boutique, I was educated on how what you buy really matters.

I’ll be honest, I am fashionably bankrupt when it comes to knowing how clothes are manufactured. Fortunately, I was lucky enough to learn what a difference it makes getting your t-shirt from American Apparel as opposed to the Gap.

I fortunately was blessed to be adorned in a lovely couture gown by Kimberly Robinson of Kimbery Kouture, but I learned that ethical clothing can be on the runway, or even on MY runway (M Street) in a pair of Levi 100% organic cotton jeans.

Check out the list of retailers allowing you to “Dress Responsibly” and look for more updates on their big event in October…

Enjoy a Fashionable Friday!

kennedykloset2113.gifWhile the Cartier event last night in Chevy Chase was fabulous as to be expected, and I couldn’t say no to Saks 5th Ave.’s “Spend Some, to Get Some” deal, I found the real treasures of the night at Fashion Fights Povery’s Beauty Night Out. The swag bags were unbelievable, but even more incredible were the designers themselves. Lauren Bailey of Bailey Handbags developed a line of handbags which reflects healthy living by utilizing the healing properties of magnets within her insignias as hardware. These therapeutic magnets mix with a stylish and practical design made from the softest leather. I’ll take one of each!!

Belabumbum lingerie and Maternity also presented at BNO and had the most deliciously bright pieces, simply delectable! They are a true coming home story, as the line first developed in DC and then they left but have recently returned to the city where their idea developed!

Last weekend my friend Roby hosted an event for Dakota Martin Designs. I
absolutely fell IN LOVE with their Dakota Martin Scarf Top. I bought two! The necklaces are interchangeable and great to wear with the scarf top or on their own, and one of the tops I bought was even reversible!!! A chic way to cover up but stay cool as the DC humidity bodes down on us this summer! The designers were as sweet as their tops, and had much to offer! You can purchase online or at these three DC locations:

Atelier Couture
3003 N Street, NW
Washington DC 20007

Maggie and Lola
1013 E Street, SE
Washington DC 20003

Sherman Pickey
1647 Wisconsin Ave.
Washington, DC 20007

After all of the events last night, I am spent… Time to make some $$ so I can spend it!

Enjoy a Fashionable Friday!

kennedykloset2112.gifI’ll be the first to admit it, my behind is expanding exponentially due to winter hibernation. That said, while BB perused the paintball aisle of The
Sports Authority
, I became instantly infatuated with the new-ish creation by Ipod, the Nike+iPod Sport Kit.

My obsession grew tenfold this morning when I actually tried the thing out… While I am still figuring out exactly what it DOESN’T DO (let me tell you, it seems to do it all). I was wildly impressed with my motivational coach whom told me to run faster and push harder as mile 3 made me glisten along the Bridges Trail. When I got infront of the Kennedy Center, I knew I needed my “Power Song” and with a click of a button, Kill Hannah was blaring from my earbuds. Compatible with the iPod Nano, a little attachment changes the way you work out. Apparently youre supposed to purchase special shoes, but I just stuck the receptor in my sock and it was on its way, counting calories, distances, and more… The best $29 I ever spent, much cheaper than a personal trainer over at Sports Club LA. Maybe if I can sell Peruse, I can purchase those sneakers…;-)

I love toys, dont you?!
