Big Head DC just received this exclusive picture of three of Washington’s youngest, most ambitious political pundits (who like nothing more than to hear themselves talk) participating in one of their daily top-secret Web chat sessions. We’ve been told that the lads regularly strap on their earpieces and yank out their microphones to plot sinister ways they could one day lead various Washington print media outlets, including The Atlantic, The American Prospect and Reason magazine.

During such sessions, the boys often enjoy repeating anecdotes or mimicking blather they’ve heard older people around them say. Which is why, if you’ve heard Ezra (the regular middle in the threesome, for some reason) talking anytime lately, he’s taken to relentlessly referencing Chris Matthews‘ favorite film, Cat Ballou. Or if you’ve seen little Jules, he’s waxed poetically about growing his hair out dramatically like his idol Nick Gillespie. Or if you’ve spotted Matthew Yglesias at a bar or fast food restaurant (or both), you’ve heard him going on and on about the joys of gay sex. (His colleague, Andrew Sullivan, has whispered a lot about that topic in his ear lately, we hear.)

Yes, these guys are swell. If you happen to see them in person (or even in a chat room) during the holidays, be sure to tell them Big Head DC sends them a hearty “Merry Christmas.” And let ‘em know that 2008 is going to be wild!

“As should already be apparent, forging a libertarian/liberal coalition, even on issues where they’re already inclined to agree, will not be easy, nor is it guaranteed to succeed,” he writes at Campus Progress today. ”The present moment of political flux may be a historical inflection point, prelude to a massive political realignment and a new brand of ‘fusionism.’ It may be just a brief hiccup, after which the old patterns reassert themselves. Or it may be that our chances of avoiding the second possibility depend on our willingness, liberal and libertarian alike, to take a chance on trying to effectuate the first.”

Effectuate? We think Julian should e-fuck-uate off.

Here it is, kids, my weekly conversation with the literary genius of our times, Marty Beckerman, author of Generation S.L.U.T.:

BHR: So how was your birthday party that I missed last week?

MB: My friends picked up the tab, so naturally I went straight for the Goose and Ketel because I’m a prick and it was my birthday. Unfortunately the bartender slung a glass of Jaeger my way and that was the end of the night. Of course, I started the night with tequila — Don Julio — which is a guaranteed way to have a horrible morning, so I was screwed anyway.
 
BHR: Wow. You really do drink. Did you hang with any big stars?

MB: Oh, just Charlie Sheen. (Who has an uncanny resemblance to Reason magazine’s Dave Weigel. Such a resemblance that you could almost swear that it was Dave at the party, not Chucko.)

BHR: Hmm, I like Reason magazine, but I think Julian Sanchez might be a prick. But I digress. Speaking of big stars, just wait to you see what’s planned for the coming weeks involving Big Head DC. You’re going to be quite humbled, Mr. B.
 
MB: What? Did you file for food stamps or something?

BHR: Even better. It’s very gossip-worthy. Hey, what’s the best gossip you’ve heard this year?

MB: Just what I read on your hate site.

BHR: That’s not a hate site, silly, it’s my libelous fan site. They watch my back. And good. Apparently they found that sex video I downloaded to Youtube of me having sex with a dressing bottle. I can’t wait til it finally leaks because at least the painful memories of that evening will finally be worth it. Talk to you next week.
