Jerry Falwell, Jr., son of the late televangelist who founded Liberty University, has endorsed Mike Huckabee after spending the morning with him prior to tonight’s GOP debate. Just yesterday, Huckabee formed the “Faith and Family Values Coalition,” which is made up of several religious leaders.

rev-rubber-pants.jpg“An Alabama minister who died in June of ‘accidental mechanical asphyxia’ was found hogtied and wearing two complete wet suits, including a face mask, diving gloves and slippers, rubberized underwear, and a head mask, according to an autopsy report,” reports the Smoking Gun. “Investigators determined that Rev. Gary Aldridge’s death was not caused by foul play and that the 51-year-old pastor of Montgomery’s Thorington Road Baptist Church was alone in his home at the time he died (while apparently in the midst of some autoerotic undertaking).” He also had a condom-cloaked dildo penetrating him at the time of his death.

Aldridge graduated from Liberty University and later worked for the late Rev. Jerry Falwell.

tinky1.jpgYou probably thought you’d heard the last from the most affable of the Teletubbies, Tinky Winky, when he penned a column on Big Head DC earlier this month upon the passing of Rev. Jerry Falwell. Well, nope.

We learned today from WaPo’s OFF/beat blog that Poland’s Ewa Sowinska, a self-described watchdog for children’s rights, has been forced to back off on her claims that Tinky Winky of PBS and BBC fame could promote homosexuality because he carries a fantastic red purse.

Today, her spokesperson announced that Sowinska “hasn’t asked and won’t ask” mental health experts to investigate whether Teletubbies promote homosexuality in young viewers.

Reports WaPo: “As the roars of laughter and criticism, (even from her own party) poured in Sowinska was forced to make a hasty retreat which came in the following statement: ‘They are fictional characters, they have nothing to do with reality, and the bag and scissors and other props the fictional characters use are there to create a fictional world that speaks to children…’”

Looks like Tinky Winky has finally won the war. Now, men, carry your purses with pride.

Editor’s note: Big Head DC is happy to bring you the first exclusive commentary from Tinky Winky, former member of the Teletubbies, who was accused of being gay and a bad role model to children by Rev. Jerry Falwell in 1999.

tinky.jpgHello, Boo Bahs.

It’s me, Tinky Winky, writing to you from the Tubbytronic Superdome. First, I must say that I am grateful to Big Head Rob for reaching out to me to ask my thoughts on this ponderous day of days after the death of Jerry Falwell. Many people have assumed over the years that I don’t know English; they have failed to realize that my work on the critically-acclaimed PBS series from 1997 through 2001 was simply an acting gig and I actually prefer conversing with adults on a vast array of philosophical matters. In fact, I received my advanced degree in fine literature from Oxford in the late 1980s and am excited to finally have an outlet to explain my thoughts regarding the controversy Falwell brewed and fostered regarding my sexual orientation.

It is important for me to get this out of the way up front: While I have no problem with gay Americans, nor gay non-Americans, I, myself, was not, and have never been, a homosexual. It was soon after the show began that fan letters started pouring in from the likes of Perez Hilton (then known to me only as Mario Lavandeira) when I realized that my magic red handbag, combined with the biological triangle growing out of my head (not to mention my purple body color) had turned me into an immediate and ferocious gay icon.
