Several Digg.com users utilize the “shout” sytem, where a user can send a link to a fellow member’s profile, but several users of the popular Internet news aggregator have increasingly abused the system to send John McCain nasty messages.

Browsing McCain’s profile, links point to stories about adult dating Web sites, an article about the city of Sacramento, Calif. keeping pornography in its libraries and perhaps the strangest shout of all is one about vaginal yeast infections that has been displayed in the Senator’s profile for over three days.

Barack Obama only displays shouts from friends, and Hillary Clinton keeps hers private.

Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama proudly display their ages on their Digg.com candidate profile pages, but John McCain’s profile on the popular Internet news aggregator seems to be missing something.

McCain will be 72 years old in August.

From the NY Times:

Some Obama supporters in the blogosphere were up in arms at Ms. Fowler. They doubt that she really supports Mr. Obama, have called her a plant for Mrs. Clinton and suggested she was deceptive in getting into the fund-raiser.

Fowler told the newspaper “that she was initially reluctant to write about what Mr. Obama had said because she actually supports him — which partly explains why she was at the fund-raiser in the first place and why there was a four-day delay between the event and the publication of her post. Ultimately, she said, she decided that if she didn’t write about it, she wouldn’t be worth her salt as a journalist.”

From an astute reader:

“Progressive” blogger Joshua Micah Marshall at Talking Points Memo continues his obsession with the “Hillary Clinton-Bosnia-Sniper” story. On Thursday, as of 21:00 ET, Marshall totally ignores the major foreign policy speech by Sen. Obama for more pressing matters: YouTube mashups!

The Clinton-Bosnia-Sniper story seems to be peaking. And there have been a lot of snippets of video swirling around YouTube with this or that part of the story. But most of them are incomplete or rapid-fire-cut or edited to make Sen. Clinton look as foolish as possible. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, as Jerry Seinfeld used to say. We do those kinds of videos too. But since you’ve probably seen a lot of those, we wanted to go back and put together all the key moments in roughly chronological order — what Sen. Clinton said on different occasions, the key video from the trip, what other eyewitnesses say, what her spokespersons and aides say, etc.

Obama’s economic speech was surprisingly given zero front page coverage. The indictment of the Puerto Rico governor was also ignored. Clinton’s call for Democratic unity was also ignored.

Earlier this month, TPM fired veteran political writer Linda Hirshmann for “not making the case for Obama”: Their reason: “We’re focusing on getting our long-standing regulars and folks covering things we don’t on the blog.”

Covering things like, YouTube mashups of the Bosnia visit?

Peter Daou, the Internet director for the Hillary Clinton campaign for president, has sent the following message to several bloggers:

I’m writing this to a group of bloggers. Some of you are Hillary supporters, some not, some neutral.

I want to address a pervasive misconception, namely, that Senator Obama hasn’t run a negative campaign against Hillary. I think it’s time to put that misconception to rest.

The truth is that for months, the Obama campaign has been attacking Hillary, impugning her character and calling into question her lifetime of public service. And now the Chicago Tribune reports that Senator Obama is preparing a “full assault” on her “over ethics and transparency.” To those who contend that Senator Obama is the clear frontrunner, I ask, to what end this “full assault” on Hillary? Read more…
