At an afternoon tea party in the elegant governor’s mansion in the capital of South Carolina, CNN reports, former Arkansas first lady Janet Huckabee and wife of current GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee told the network that she “is pretty handy with a grenade launcher.”

“I have fired a grenade launcher and hit the target two out of three times, so I think that’s pretty good odds for me,” she said. “I just was at the National Guard training camp at Camp Robinson and they just said we just want to, you know, introduce you to some of the equipment and some of the military guns that they have. And so one of them happened to be a grenade launcher, and so I shot it, and they said, ‘You’re good.’ And I said, ‘Thank you.’”

None of the other tea party participants could top her tale.

NRA-loving comic book fans will soon have a new hero to fight against gun control laws. Come 2008, the popular fictional hero Captain America will be packing heat. 

“When Captain America returns to the pages of his comic book in January, it won’t be his star-spangled new duds getting all the attention. Instead it will be what he’s wielding in his right hand, the one once reserved for pummeling the jaws of evil,” reports the Washington Post. ”Come next year, he’ll be gripping cold, hard steel.”

And he’ll be quite unique among his spandex-clad pals. Very few mainstream comic book heroes wield guns, and Batman has even sworn off ever using them.

“We definitely wanted a Captain America that still screamed, ‘This is Captain America,’ but this isn’t the same Cap you’ve been reading about,” Ed Brubaker, the comic book’s writer, told the paper. He added that he’s always tried to emphasize Captain America’s military background.
