Look! Two of the best darn DC bloggers you know turned 21 this week. This was the least we could do:

But please - please! - don’t eat too much cake, guys.

Does anybody listen? The same gang of suspects from yesterday made similar and — in a true fait accompli — some grand spankin’ new boo-boos today:

1.jpg
Patrick Gavin
, of FishbowldDC, inexplicably continues to repeatedly link to an old New Yorker profile of Christopher Hitchens (an incredible FIVE more times!). Why don’t you just go drinking with Hitchens, Gavin, and write your own silly story? Meanwhile, Inky posts a whopping ONE time today (thus far).

2.jpg DC Bachelor waxes poetic AGAIN about his long past trip to Spain — after already posting several journal entries weeks ago re: his misadventures. This time, however, he attempts to up the ante by posting pictures of a little girl chasing pigeons, rather than ones of 19-year-olds that he’d like to — wait, wait, what’s his slogan? Oh yeah, “pump and dump.”

3.jpgKathryn pens another lengthy, boring item, this time about her realization that she’s “famous” for being a blogger — amongst her family and friends. It’s yet another formulaic post with the same old set-up, fluffy middle and not-so-inspiring conclusion that we’ve seen many a day before. She’s got every right to do it, mind you, but c’mon: do something new, or just give up, like a couple of well-placed sources indicate you’re considering.

 4.jpg
Gavin makes the list again today by failing to post a single entry between 2:47 p.m. and right now (~8:15 p.m.). Inky is supposed to pick up the slack in such situations, of course, but after that anonymous entity bashed the political leanings of the Examiner’s opinion page (where Gavin toils as a gossip columnist) at 2:55, he or she got all tuckered out and was finished for the day, it seems. Poor thing.

5.jpgWonkette’s Alex Pareene trots out one of his bosses, Lockhart Steele, to dispute BHR’s claim yesterday that the “site’s numbers still stagnant.” Steele notes to us that “Wonkette just finished its highest-traffic month in history.” That’s true, but comparatively, based on rankings against other gossip sites, the site has slipped dramatically during Pareene’s reign, failing to keep pace. In other words: stagnant.

gaysha.jpgNo, it’s not simply a short vacation, while the star gets some collagen touch-ups and a few delicately woven hair extensions. (Nor is it a hoax to gain more readers.) Today, Dale, of the former DC Gays of Our Lives, shares exclusively with Big Head Rob the down and dirty details of why he’s decided go back into the closet (of blogging):

BHR: Why leave now — at the height of your popularity when you’ve even caught the wandering eye of Wonkette’s Alex Pareene?

Dale: I feel it’s better to bow out with people screaming for more than for people screaming for you to bow out.  I’ve had a lot of fun with this blog and I’d hate to descend into tedium and mediocrity.

BHR: Is Chip real? Some people have suggested that he’s been your imaginary alter ego.

Dale: Chip is in fact real, one of my great friends, and not a figment of anyone’s imagination.  I actually credit him with proposing the idea to start this blog!! His posts were always a good foil for mine because his were substantive whereas the majority of mine have been more of the light/funny fluff.

BHR: We see that you revealed your photo with your last post. Why are you less afraid of showing your true self now? Read more…

DC Gays of Our Lives is no more as of this morn…no explanation for why:

To all things must come an end and so too must this blog. After a period of reflection it’s time to put away the jewel-encrusted keyboard to which I’ve prescribed to in order to be a part of the blog that chronicled the lives of two gay, young professionals in our nations capitol…

Express has long chronicled the antics of said blogger, so there’s going to be some big gay gaps in the local blog log. Will DC Urban Family be up to the challenge of filling a couple of sparkly stilettos that have long shone so brightly?
