Campaign strategists are telling Big Head DC that Elizabeth Edwards may campaign on Hillary Clinton’s behalf in the upcoming North Carolina primary race. Whether John Edwards will endorse Clinton remains to be seen.

A drunk driver hit a car driven by Cate Edwards, the daughter of presidential candidate John Edwards.

“I talked to Cate last night, she was hit from behind, I think by a drunk driver, and any other details, they’ll have to tell you,” Edwards told CNN while campaigning in South Carolina on Monday. “I don’t know much more beyond that. But she’s doing fine.”

While the accident has been classified as minor, the situation has got to be an emotional one for both the candidate and his wife Elizabeth Edwards. The duo lost their eldest son, Wade, in a car accident in 1996 after strong winds swept his Jeep off a North Carolina highway.

Weeks before Wade died, he was honored at the White House by First Lady Hillary Clinton for an essay he wrote on entering a voting booth with his father.

In a pre-taped interview set to air on tonight’s CBS News, Katie Couric will ask Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards about the importance of marital fidelity. His answers were recorded before the National Enquirer published its expose regarding his alleged love child with former campaign staffer Rielle Hunter. In the following exchange, note how he artfully weaves and dodges her questions:

KATIE COURIC: Harry Truman said, “A man not honorable in his marital relations is not usually honorable in any other.” Some people don’t feel comfortable supporting a candidate who has not remained faithful to his or her spouse. Can you understand their position?

SEN. JOHN EDWARDS: Of course. I mean, for a lot of Americans– including the family that I grew up with, I mean, it’s– it’s fundamental to– how you judge people and human character– whether you keep your word, whether you keep what is your ultimate word, which is that– you love– your spouse, and you’ll stay with them.

KATIE COURIC: Do you think– what– what about people who use that as a way to evaluate a candidate? In other words, there have been a number of fine presidents according to some analysts-

SEN. JOHN EDWARDS: Right.

KATIE COURIC: –who have certainly not been sort of exhibited the greatest moral character–

SEN. JOHN EDWARDS: Right.

KATIE COURIC: –when it comes to infidelity–

SEN. JOHN EDWARDS: Right.

KATIE COURIC: –I guess is what I’m getting at.

SEN. JOHN EDWARDS: Yes.

KATIE COURIC: So how important do you think it is in the grand scheme of things?

SEN. JOHN EDWARDS: I think the most important qualities in a president in today’s world are trustworthiness– sincerity, honesty, strength of leadership. And– and certainly that goes to a part of that. It’s not the whole thing. But it goes to a part of it.

KATIE COURIC: So you think it’s– an appropriate way to judge a candidate?

SEN. JOHN EDWARDS: Yeah. But I don’t think it’s controlling. I mean, I think that, as you point out, there have been American presidents that at least according to the– to the stories we’ve all heard– that were not faithful, that were in fact good presidents. So I don’t think it controls the issue. But I think it’s certain– something reasonable for people to consider.

Big Head DC has received word that Leola McConnell, the bodybuilding dominatrix who claims to have had a bisexual affair with President Bush and U.S. Ambassador Victor Ashe in the 1980s, is steaming mad about Ann Coulter’s sexual politics.

“Ms. McConnell said Ann Coulter’s every word is contrived to come across in one way or another as sexual and that she’s having cyber/cable TV sex with those men who hang on her every word about Dems,” according to an insider who’s talked to McConnell since the controversial “Hardball” airing last night. “Leola thinks the woman in the background in the video on your Web site with her breast showing through her blouse is a shill positioned to keep the sexuality of Coulter’s message constant.”

McConnell is also apparently a big Elizabeth Edwards fan. Edwards, you’ll recall, confronted Coulter on “Hardball” last night for calling her husband a “fag” in the past.

“Elizabeth Edwards is such a courageous fighter (and a gem of a human being) battling cancer and trying to raise her family with so much working against her,” McConnell said in an e-mail obtained by Big Head DC.  Having to listen to this filth has to be draining in her physical condition. Lil’ Annie plays these vile word games with a man like John Edwards (calling heterosexual men faggots) because she knows other Republican guys that are closet bisexuals get sexually aroused by her banter.

“John Edwards is exactly the kind of man whose attention she so desperately craves in life — a man who wouldn’t give her the time of century, let alone the time of day from his watch,” McConnell added. ”Ann Coulter is a pig, pure and simple–a pig who needs her mouth spat in mid sentence while she’s spewing that bile, then hog-tied and have an apple stuffed in her sewer of a mouth. The only ‘faggots’ to be found is her sorry faggot ass and her bisexual closet case Decider in Chief.”

Coulter has yet to respond to Big Head DC for comment.
