An angry GOP blogger says yes:

I was one of Dennis’ first friends here in Washington. One of the few who could talk in detail with him about high school wrestling over the occasional mid-morning drink (I grappled JV back in high school). From what I hear, he was one of the most hands-on and effective wrestling coaches of his day. And I recognize that retirement can be expensive and a man needs to make a buck.

But going to work for transgender-friendly Dickstein and Shapiro? Well, I know I said I’d let bygones be bygones and focus on the present but my friend Stanley Rubin has told me stories about that operation that would make your blood curdle. And even though I fully endorse John McCain, I remember (like I remember Amalek) the dirty tricks campaign waged against my candidate at the time, Rudy.

Dennis, come on, buddy. I know you can do better. I defended you in the Mark Foley scandal, and now you’re just perpetuating stereotypes of the GOP.  We’re going to have enough trouble this fall defeating Obama and heading off another Democrat landslide.

CHICAGO (AP) — A longtime Republican district fell to the Democrats Saturday when a scientist snatched former House Speaker Dennis Hastert’s congressional seat in a closely watched special election.

Democrat Bill Foster won 52 percent of the vote compared to 48 percent for Republican Jim Oberweis. With 564 of 568 precincts reporting, Foster had 50,947 votes to Oberweis’ 46,125.

Former House Speaker Denny Hastert officially resigned from Congress on Monday evening, the same day Sen. Trent Lott announced his unexpected resignation. However, thanks to Benjamin Nicholas’ abs, no one noticed.

OK, at first I didn’t think that all the hoopla about Nancy Pelosi flying around in a time-saving, yet gas-guzzlng, fancy jet was that big of a deal. Sure, she has bugged out eyes, but I wasn’t gonna crucify her for doing exactly what I would do if I was in the position to abuse my power.

Today, however, my opinion has changed: The White House is defending her, so I know now that she must be truly be an evil Al Gorilla in disguise.

“This is a silly story, and I think it’s been unfair to the speaker,” Tony Snow said at a White House briefing yesterday. “We think it’s important that the speaker of the House enjoy the same kind of security that we arranged for Speaker Hastert in the wake of Sept. 11. And like I said, I think that there’s been a lot of overhyped reporting on this.”

When Tony Snow starts defending Nancy, you know one of two things is true: hell has frozen over, or she’s out to destroy the world. It may be cold outside, but I’m pretty sure hell is still burning. She must be stopped immediately, kids. You know what to do. Write your Congressman.
