BHDC 'DCRTV' File:

Dave Hughes rocked it

DCRTV broke the news several months ago. And now ABC News makes it official. Its Sunday political talker “This Week” will be moving from ABC’s downtown DC news bureau to the new Newseum news biz museum near Capitol Hill.

But host George Stephanopoulos might want to wait a while to try Wolfgang Puck’s new Newseum restaurant. As we reported this spring, a Sports Illustrated party celebrating the mag’s annual swimsuit issue “turned into a health scare for stars in Hollywood after a caterer working for celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck may have exposed them to acute Hepatitis A.”

pat-and-anne.pngMore Mediabistro blog-related corruption stories are flowing in to the Big Head DC headquarters, since we noted today that FishbowlDC stole our scoop regarding Tony Blankley’s departure from the Washington Times.

“I hyped the hell out of CableNewser, later TVNewser, when Brian Stelter launched it in early 2004,” Dave Hughes, the editor of DCRTV news blog, tells Big Head DC. “Then when Mediabistro took over, they immediately dropped the DCRTV link on their front page.”

Stelter has gone on to earn a high figure salary as a TV and news writer for The New York Times.

Hughes has since stopped linking altogether to what he calls “FishbowelDC” since they “bitched about giving me credit on the WaPo Radio demise scoop.” You’ll recall that FishbowlDC editor Patrick Gavin falsely claimed in late-August that his blog had that scoop first, when, in fact, DCRTV had beaten Gavin to the punch by almost two weeks. evil-fish.jpgBig Head DC has learned that DCRTV is starting a campaign against the Mediabistro FishbowlDC blog, and will henceforth refer to it as FishBowelDC.

Dave Hughes, the longtime writer of DCRTV, is steaming like a broken printing press at FishbowlDC’s wet-behind-the-ears media gossip Patrick Gavin, who falsely claimed earlier this week that FishbowlDC had the scoop on the shuttering of Washington Post Radio.

“I loved reading FishbowlDC and how they bragged about being the first to link to Paul Farhi’s article at about 11 PM yesterday,” Hughes wrote yesterday. “But no mention of how DCRTV broke the story 10 days ago…..”

Is it high time for Mediabistro boss Laurel Touby to clean out her fishbowl? Only time will tell. But it is getting pretty murky in there.

DCRTV editor Dave Hughes today can’t help but share his true feelings about media socialite Patrick Gavin, calling him “somewhat dippy.” This, despite a regular morning link from the behemoth FishbowlDC to our favorite little media gossip engine that could. Oh well. Who can be civil when you’ve got Gavin gabbin’ about you behind your back?

Two new reports from DCRTV support recent Big Head DC items on some possibly unscrupulous developments at the Washington-based XM Satellite Radio Company:

6/27 - Former XM Satellite Radio customers say the DC company has made it difficult to cancel their radio subscriptions. Nearly a dozen of those interviewed by the DC Times said they encountered hang-ups, arguments from XM representatives, and unsolicited promotions when they tried to cancel their service…..

6/27 - An XM source tells us that morning men Opie and Anthony “are on a 60-second delay. There has been a delay system set up at (channel) 202’s Program Director Don Wicklin’s desk.” The DC-based satellite radio firm had denied in a recent Washington Times article that a delay had been implemented to review and remove controversial language. O&A recently returned from a month-long suspension after allowing sexual comments about Secretary Of State Condi Rice to be aired. We’re told that XM, which is appealing to Capitol Hill regulators and government types for the approval of a merger with rival Sirius, is more concerned about the political ramblings of O&A as opposed to any four-letter expletives the radio duo might utter.
