DC United may have won the game last night at RFK against the LA Galaxy (1-0), but David Beckham was the real winner. Who else could play for only 21 minutes, take his shirt off twice in less than a half an hour and woo friends and foes alike — by, really, doing nothing spectacular at all? Now that Becks is outta here, it’s up to Bobby Boswell and crew to keep the momentum going. Hint: Take off your shirts. It obviously works.

We’ve just been informed by official event organizers that there are a few more tickets left for the Bobby Boswell / David Beckham post-game bash at Lima on Thursday night and that the BBC has already scoped out the joint for possible camera shots for a TV reality series being filmed about Becks.
And rumor has it that Boswell - yes, the Bobby Boswell - is going to pose shirtless sometime during the party. Ha! Can you imagine if Becks shows up and happens to somehow lose his tee, too. The gals and gays of this city will simply be overwhelmed.

Something seems out of bounds in soccer world.
Another post-game DC United/LA Galaxy has popped up, to be hosted at Play Lounge on Thursday night by Victoria Michael, Sarah Rosenwinkel and Laura Rosenwinkel.
It will be competing with the Bobby Boswell party at Lima on the same night.
Will David Beckham end up getting confused and not show at either event? Stay tuned.

Everyone who’s anyone in the Washington sports world will be at the RFK Stadium on August 9 when D.C. United, home of Bobby Boswell, takes on the L.A. Galaxy and its star player, David Beckham. Then, everyone who’s anyone in the DC social scene will arrive after the game for an exclusive “DC Goes Hollywood” POSH Supper Club event at 10 p.m., hosted by Boswell and Peruse.com founder Katherine Kennedy.
Becks is expected to be in attendance, perhaps with wife Posh Spice (we hear she just loves a venue named in her honor), but will he be the best looking soccer star in the crowd? Boswell himself is a Cosmopolitan “Bachelor of the Year” and recently appeared as a centerfold in Men’s Journal magazine. Plus, we hear that quite a few of his teammates are quite proud of their sweaty body parts, too.
Tickets for the sure-to-be sexy event (which will feature an open bar until 2 a.m.) are for invitees only, and are non-transferable. So leave your soccer balls at home, kids. This party’s for real players.

If anyone still cares about the NHL, it should be the D.C. United. The Capitals new alt eagle logo looks a lot like the bird that’s adorned the United’s unis for years. Will this new logo be able to fly after a call from the soccer club’s legal team?
