Everybody’s favorite D.C.-based sports pundit personality Tony Kornheiser provides some more fodder for the bloggers who hate him:

It’s a real, it’s a real mistake, and it happens. And I don’t want to single anybody out in this area, but, you know, some people sit at home and they watch TV and they watch radio and they “blog” about certain “things,” and they think they know what they’re talking about, and they think they have sources. They have no sources. They make stuff up. They’re toads. They’re little toads. Actually, they’re pimples on the behind of the greater body politic in this country and in this city [everyone in the studio cackles for no reason]. And because, because they have access to airwaves and three or four people read them, they think, ‘Oh, I’m very important.’

Kassy K, the girl who played a role in multiple DC-based “blog wars,” while always claiming innocence, is leaving town. She’s moving to live with her parents. “Home in New Jersey is pleasant,” she says in her farewell post. “My parents are easy going, my house is pretty/spacious and both my parents are really good cooks with a huge kitchen–so I can hone some of my own (dare I say it) cooking skills.” Bon appétit.

With much fanfare, including a widely-circulated item in Page 6, John Clarke Jr. was poised only a few short weeks ago to become the next fabled editor of the snarky Wonkette blog. It was the same “dream” job that had led to a career at TIME for Ana Marie Cox, the first Wonkette (the one without a penis, we think) — and Clarke seemed quite ready to transform his past unsuccessful career in politics into a new political blogging career. 

But, as we confirmed via a subtle change on the Gawker Media blog’s masthead this morning, Clarke has parted ways with owner Nick Denton in record time. Even David Lat stayed at the blog longer in 2006 when he exited after a few months of reportedly very little pay and even less prestige.

The change is not exactly shocking, as Big Head DC recently noted (twice) that Clarke had started freelancing for Radar, a chief competitor to Denton’s blogs. Within days of those revelations, Clarke was out at Wonkette. That a second editor has left Denton to work for Radar (the first was Alex Balk) surely must be a stinging slap in Denton’s face, especially considering the mass quitting of three of his top editors at Gawker in December. Each of those editors took jabs on the Gawker blog about Denton’s poor management style in the weeks prior to their departures.

Interestingly, Ken Layne, who had run the Wonkette blog with Alex Pareene for a majority of 2006 and 2007 - and who was asked to leave the blog by Denton when Clarke signed up - has temporarily filled the open position. Pareene left to join Gawker’s NYC-focused blog soon after Big Head DC revealed his involvement in a Washington sex scandal.

As for Clarke, problems started soon into his tenure. A source close to the situation says Clarke didn’t realize the amount of posting he’d be expected to do, nor did he understand the extent of Denton’s desire for fresh and original scoops to be broken via the blog. Denton’s demands for scoops similar to mainstream media outlets have become much more intense as of late as some of his blogs, including Wonkette, have lost audience share and ad revenue to competing outlets such as Big Head DC.

We recently received this letter with a fun picture attached. We really don’t know the answer to the writer’s question, so we’ll let you, the readers, decide:

Dear Big Head DC,

I know you rarely write about local bloggers anymore, but I really think Roissy has a takedown coming. On his blog, he occasionally features an item called “Relationship or Fling?” where he posts pics of women and everyone gets to judge. Let’s just say he’s VERY judgmental about the women.

Might it be a good lesson to turn the tables and post HIS pic on your blog and see what people say, i.e. how hot is the “seduction expert?” In my opinion, he’s no Brad Pitt.

I sent you a tip on this a while back, but when you didn’t post my item, I linked to Roissy’s pic on Roissy’s own blog — after some discussion on the board HE DELETED THE PIC AND THE ENTIRE DISCUSSION ABOUT IT! Talk about dishing it out, but not being able to take it! The photo is attached if you want to put it up and talk about how thin-skinned he is.

Michael Grass, an editor with the Washington Post Express, almost immediately responded to our post about the gay fitness blogger who wondered why his posts always get selected to be in the paper’s “blog log” section. We intimated that Grass might have had something to do with it, since, well, he’s the big cheese online editor over there. But that is not true!

“For the record,” Grass writes, “I wasn’t working on Sunday, therefore, I’m not responsible for the Vividblurry quote. There are multiple people at Express who put Blog Log together. Check your facts.”

Noted! Mike Grass does not like Vivid Blurry! Vivid Blurry is evil! Mike Grass would never think to link to Vivid Blurry!

Everybody’s favorite celebrity fitness blogger - aka Toby at Vivid Blurry - notes that seemingly every time he writes a post, the editor of the Washington Post Express seems to pick it up for his “blog log” summary.

This notation brings up a good question: How exactly are the items selected for the daily round-up? Do you have to be on editor Mike Grass’ good side to get a mention? Or do you simply have to be a flamboyant fitness blogger? If that’s the case, we just might have to dust off our pink leotards. We need more love!

OK, time to fess up. How many of you went out full force trying to buy the Aqua Dots toy after you found out yesterday that they contain the “date rape” drug GHB? We can just picture certain DC bloggers gathering up handfuls of the colorful playthings and trying to slyly slip them into girls’ drinks. Which reminds us: How many girls have been raped after DC Blogger Happy Hours lately? Are the statistics still incredibly high?
