CQ’s Everyman was on MSNBC today lamenting the fact that Barack Obama is (articulately) trying to quit smoking. I writhed with delight when the luxuriously brown-haired Crawford bellowed that he’s a long time smoker. He even said he thought it was nice to have a man in the race who might have fought for his right to kill himself.

I love people who’ll just come out and say they love tobacco. I started smoking Camels when I was just a wee socialite back in college and have now graduated to Marlboro Reds. Boys, not only do I look like fire, I smell like it too.

Maybe me and Craigy can go on a date sometime? And don’t go spoilin’ my fun by telling me that the hottie is married. I’m too tired from partying last night at Lima to Google.

Last week, we reported that Kelley Hundahl, a Cleveland Park-based decorating diva, made her debut on HGTV as a cheerful host in a design-on-the-cheap program, FreeStyle. Hundahl told Big Head Rob soon after her debut show that she had a terrible experience with Congressional Quarterly’s Jill Barshay, who was chosen by producers to have a room in her Dupont Circle apartment redone on the program. Barshay, also none too happy with the experience, ultimately penned a Washington Post article about her experience. Barshay said that FreeStyle’s producers coaxed her into buying new furniture and also “double-stuffed” (arranged) her home in inconvenient ways.

Hundahl took exception with Barshay’s Post item. “A lot of her information in there was completely false,” Hundahl told us, indicating that the newspaper didn’t call to double check Barshay’s facts. “I was really disappointed in the Washington Post–it was all very tabloid trash.”

In reporting her piece, Barshay told us she did call HGTV (the station’s response is clearly printed in the article). “I think that’s an indication that both I and the Washington Post sincerely aimed to check our facts,” said Barshay. “If there is an error, I would ask the Post to print a correction. I take such accusations very seriously. For example, in an earlier draft, I thought the candles were persimmon. I double checked and noticed that the sticker on the bottom said, ‘pumpkin spice.’ I requested that the copy be corrected.” Read more…

CQ columnist Craig Crawford surprised us today by pointing out something we didn’t know about the man who was president when we were born:

As Jimmy Carter left office, he proposed changing the Constitution to provide one six-year presidential term with no re-election, arguing that this was enough time to get something done without having to pander for votes to stay in office. 

After writing about Carter’s nipples, we thought we knew everything!
