Loving the snarkiness of this Post article towards the NY Times NSA spying scoop. Favorite graphs:

Yesterday’s article was a dramatic scoop for a newspaper whose national security coverage has been marked by some turmoil in recent years. The Times admitted last year that much of its reporting on Iraq’s weapons programs before the war was flawed. The principal author of those stories, Judith Miller, later spent 85 days in jail to protect the identity of an administration source in the CIA leak case. 

More recently, the Times has been scooped by the Los Angeles Times on a story that the U.S. military has been secretly paying to run favorable stories in the Iraqi media, and by The Washington Post on the revelation last month of a secret network of CIA prisons for terrorism suspects in foreign countries. The Times announced last week that it was replacing its deputy bureau chief in Washington, which outsiders read as a sign of the paper’s dissatisfaction with its Washington coverage.

That’s exactly how Big Head Rob feels about FishbowlDC re: its Bob Novak coverage yesterday: “Novak To Fox; World Yawns.” C’mon Garrett Graff, just because we beat you to this story by FOUR months doesn’t mean you have to be pithy.

Big Head Rob isn’t one to toot his own horn (right?), but it looks like this site had a huge scoop back way back in August with the prediction that Robert Novak would join FOX News. The AP just caught up today, pointing out that “commentator Robert Novak, who hasn’t been seen on CNN since swearing and storming off the set in August, will leave the network after 25 years and join Fox News Channel as a contributor next month.”

Novak told the AP that he would have left CNN anyway when his contract expired this month even if it hadn’t been for the incident.

Yeah right. The secret here is that Novak was feeling pressure as a result of your very own BHR.
