SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson is endorsing Senator Barack Obama for president.

The Associated Press has learned that Richardson is to appear with Obama on Friday at a campaign event in Portland, Oregon.

…campaign sources are mentioning it to Big Head DC as big possibility. If so, it would be a major slap to Hillary Clinton and her outreach to Hispanic voters.

The political losers are starting to weigh in. Very interesting that John Kerry chose Barack Obama over his 2004 running mate John Edwards. Also interesting that an old Washington establishment player would sign on to Obama’s campaign given how much grief Obama has given the Washington establishment. One thing’s for sure: Kerry must really hate Clinton for running this year and taking away all of his old staffers.

Bill Richardson dropping out and possibly supporting Clinton is less surprising, since he’s always seemed to agree more with her “ready for change” platform over Obama’s simpler “change” stance.

Now, let’s hear from the voters.

What a way to sell yourself to the American public when you’re running for president!

In a new interview out today with Playboy magazine, Bill Richardson says that he knows he’s fat, but he thinks that makes him more real, in comparison to, say, Mitt Romney.

“I’m overweight; I’m trying to lose weight,” he told the publication. “I don’t mope around at night worrying that I didn’t look good on Jay Leno — though I saw myself, and though I’ve lost 30 pounds, I’ve got to lose more.”

Inquiring minds want to know: Where did he lose 30 pounds?

In a post-debate interview Bill Richardson told MSNBC’s Chris Matthews that he doesn’t believe the U.S. government has done enough to shed light on UFO phenomena. The New Mexico governor added that while he has never personally seen a UFO, he thinks the government has classified far too many documents involving sightings, which has helped to foster conspiracy theories about their existence. The city of Roswell, he noted, is the site of an alleged UFO crash, and is a large tourism draw in his home state.

One of Democratic presidential candidate Bill Richardson’s top organizers in Nevada resigned yesterday after the campaign learned he had worked for a brothel.

Kristian Forland, the campaign’s eastern Nevada field director, was investigated by police after women working at Mona’s Ranch, a brothel, complained he was shortchanging them on their pay.

An investigator described Forland as “at best a manager of the property,” according to a June 2006 police report obtained by the AP.

“I oversaw the bookkeeping only,” Forland said. “I never handled cash, I didn’t deal with the girls per se.”

Barack Obama was the first to confirm his appearance at the LOGO/Human Rights Campaign forum, so he’s the first to pop his cherry with the gay round table, which consists of the president of the Human Rights Campaign, a black WaPo reporter and Melissa Etheridge. Yes, she’s a lesbian.

Barack’s tending to be boring and not seeming to have much flair.

9:23: John Edwards is next in the hot seat. Hair is looking nicely coiffed as usual.

9:26: Edwards says he’s comfortable around gay people. Especially a room full of gay people.

9:34: Edwards says he shouldn’t have said his faith prevents him from supporting gay marriage. “From my perspective, it it wrong…to impose my faith belief on the American people…” Still, his position on same sex marriage has not changed, he adds. “All I can tell you is where I am today.”

9:41: Shorty Kucinich is up to bat. “Imagine the equal sign inside a heart,” says he. “I stand for real equality.” Yup, he’s a gay icon. He may be short, but he’s bigger than Madonna in that respect.

Anderson Cooper told the audience of the YouTube CNN Democratic debate tonight that some debaters chose to wear devices to help make the audio of the videos more audible. It was a polite way of saying that Bill Richardson had his hearing aid in.
