GOP presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani is trying to wave off his ties to Bernard Kerik and Judith Regan’s explosive legal allegations by saying he views the story as a bunch of gossip. Um, Hello? Are the gossip pages of newspapers any less likely to break news than the front page? And, in this case, isn’t this a front page story? Also! Both the front page and the gossip page are held to the same editorial scrutiny in case of libel lawsuits.

“Former book publisher Judith Regan’s lawsuit against HarperCollins, its publisher, Jane Friedman, and NewsCorp, is off to the races,” Radar reports. “In the 70-page suit, Regan says she refused to lie to federal investigators about her affair with Bernard Kerik as requested by NewsCorp execs—a request, she says, that was meant to protect Rudy Giuliani’s presidential bid.”

Regan was involved in publishing Kerik’s autobiography The Lost Son.
