Could it be because the grand dame of the program Barbara Walters used to date the wily former fed chairman? Yes, our sources say, and Mitchell apparently doesn’t allow her hubby to be alone in the same room with Walters anymore. It made for quite awkward TV, with the elder Greenspan sitting between the two taut news ladies — not knowing which one to look at when he was talking. Mitchell, in fact, ended up chatting more than Greenspan, at one point saying that she likes to stay in bed with him as long as possible. Um, that’s hot?

alan.jpgVice President Dick Cheney writes in a Wall Street Journal editorial today that former Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan’s criticism of President Bush’s economic record is “off the mark.”

Greenspan accuses Bush in his new memoir of abandoning Republican principles on the economy and rebuked his tax cuts and increased spending.

“Greenspan argues that President Bush’s economic and budget policies have been fiscally irresponsible. I’ve known and admired Alan for years, and I believe he was a great chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. But I think his assessment is off the mark,” according to Cheney.

“The combined effects of recession and national emergency could have been devastating for America’s economy. Yet President Bush’s tax cuts-following through on a promise he had made to the voters-resulted in a shallower recession, a faster recovery, and a platform for growth that remains sturdy to this day,” Cheney said.

With all this talk of marksmanship, why is no one noting that Cheney once shot a man?

andrea.jpg“Ever wonder how Alan Greenspan managed to land a much younger babe like Andrea Mitchell?” the Reliable Source asks today. Um! We take issue with the premise of that question. The NBC correspondent referred to as a “much younger babe” has got to be a tongue-in-cheek joke, right? Like one of Perez Hilton’s backhanded compliments to the Olsen twins? Either that, or the column’s writers, Amy Argetsinger and Roxanne Roberts, are doing some major suckage of Mitchell’s dried up teats to try to get some dirty milk.

Does NBC foreign affairs correspondent Andrea Mitchell have to mash up her hubby’s food and feed it to him, too? We all know ex-Federal Reserve chairman and current retiree Alan Greenspan is pretty damn old, but he doesn’t have to tell us about it! According to a new Business Week article, he drives like a little old lady and wrote the bulk of his upcoming book, The Age of Turbulence: Adventures in a New World, while “in the bathtub.” We presume he didn’t want to risk standing for fear of slipping and breaking a hip.
