The former VP was recently seen at a Beverly Hills gym exercising for over an hour. Rumors about him making a late jump into the Democratic presidential race tend to parallel the shape of his waist, so expect the speculation to continue.

Both Al Gore and NYC Mayor Mike Bloomberg have been quite coy about running for president thus far, but growing murmurs from the Beltway media indicate that the duo is ready to step in for the Democratic — in the event a rumored scandal takes down Hillary Clinton.
Columnist Robert Novak has confirmed with New York political sources that Bloomberg engaged in a “long, private discussion about 2008 politics” with former Democratic Sen. David Boren earlier this year.
And it’s well-known that Bloomberg is a big ally of the former VP. “I hope Al Gore enters the race; I think it would be good for the country,” the mayor said this spring. Read more…

permalinkABC News’s John Stossel, most famous for his “give me a break” tag line, is mad at Al Gore for saying the debate on global warming is over. To prove the former VP wrong, he interviewed several scientists who have a contrary view, including John Christy and Roy Spencer who won NASA’s Medal for Exceptional Achievement for figuring out how to get temperature data from satellites.
“We all agree that it’s warmed,” Spencer told Stossel. “The big question is, and the thing we dispute is, is it because of mankind?” Read more…

Al Gore reveals in a new Vanity Fair article the effect he believes the press had on the 2000 presidential election, telling editor Evgenia Peretz that he won’t blame the media for his loss and that he should have spoken more clearly to America.
“Modern politics seems to require and reward some capacities that I don’t think I have in abundance … such as a tolerance for … spin rather than an honest discussion of substance,” Gore says in the article. “Apparently, it comes easily for some people, but not for me.”
When questioned about the debate coverage, Gore tells Peretz, “The sighs, the sighs, the sighs … Within 18 hours, they had turned perception around to where the entire story was about me sighing. And that’s scary. That’s scary.” Read more…
Manufacturing company Moller International has finally made your Jetsons-based fantasies a reality, announcing the production of its new M200G Volantor, a real-life flying saucer, which will set you back around $90,000.
The device can fly no higher than ten feet and can only fit two at a time, but who cares? It’s a frickin’ flying saucer, man!
Still, we can already predict that Al Gore is not going to be pleased. The ship is a bonafide gas-guzzler, consuming 40 gallons of fuel if it travels at a top speed of about 50 mph for one hour. The craft also emits an ear-splitting 85 decibels — with mufflers, this problem can be reduced to a more moderate 65 decibels, according to the company. So cover your ears, kids, the future is loud.

permalinkChelsea Clinton has been getting ink for ages on her appearance and transformation from caterpillar to moth, while Sarah Gore, one of Al’s kids, has somehow escaped the scrutiny. Today, having learned of Sarah’s weekend wedding to an older computer geek (she’s 27; he’s 37), we change that sad fact forever.
So far it seems that Sarah is being careful not to follow in her plump family’s footsteps. But who doesn’t gain a few pounds after marriage? We’ll be watching.
