Filed under: Journalism, Hillary Clinton, Politico, Matt Drudge

The thought process seems a tad counterintuitive:

Journalists, for instance, have become partners with the Clinton campaign in pretending that the contest is closer than it really is. Most coverage breathlessly portrays the race as a down-to-the-wire sprint between two well-matched candidates, one only slightly better situated than the other to win in August at the national convention in Denver.

[snip]

One important, if subliminal, reason is self-interest. Reporters and editors love a close race — it’s more fun and it’s good for business.

The media are also enamored of the almost mystical ability of the Clintons to work their way out of tight jams, as they have done for 16 years at the national level. That explains why some reporters are inclined to believe the Clinton campaign when it talks about how she’s going to win on the third ballot at the Democratic National Convention in August.

That’s certainly possible — and, to be clear, we’d love to see the race last that long — but it’s folly to write about this as if it is likely.

What do you think?

P.S. Matt Drudge is already linking to the Politico’s story.

Does the biased Politico send their stories to Drudge immediately to be vetted? It seems like a vast amount of their anti-Hillary writing is linked to on Drudge almost immediately when Politico posts it. When they do have a rare critical piece about Obama, Drudge never links to those. I call shenanigans.

No way has the media been Clinton friendly! At every turn the media has been slaming Clinton.

If anything the media is having a love fest with Obama. The media covers every little detail right down to when Obama blew his nose. If you look at the media coverage you will see the media writing more stories about Obama with a positive spin. They like an empty suit. Just wait until the Larry Sinclair story comes out…what will the media do then?

Drudge has displayed a contempt for the Clintons and everyone associated with them. He has carried the most horrendous pictures of Hill , and never fails to find an article to post that bashes her.

I am supporting McCain this year but I do feel that the Drudge Report has been a battering ram on Hill/Bill this year.

Conversely, Drudge who usually goes conservative…seemed smitten with Obama for the short term. It is difficult to read now, the racist stuff seems to have given him reason to pause.

The best read from his site recently was a piece by David Mamet that was from the Village Voice and was titled “Why I Am No Loger A Brain Dead Liberal”…it’s superb. I think I love it becuase I had a similar come to Jesus moment in 1991.

I don’t understand why the media wants to act like this race ISN’t close. Counting the MI and FL votes and delegates and Pennsylvania votes and delegates, Hillary will be beating Obama in the popular vote, and will be withing a dozen or so delegates of Obama. It’s MI and FL not being counted that’s hurting the perception and allowing Obama to pull a George W., a la 2000, on everyone.

I currently live in NH and I can tell you that the current campaign is the exact paybook of the Deval(Devolved) Patrick , Christy Whitman campaign. It pitted Deval against Christy who was a (you guessed) a white woman. Christy was little supported by Romney and Deval made everyone in MA. feel SO GOOD! He touted his rags to very riches story( please skip that he worked for Ameriquest..preditory lending and all that) and that he was a poor Chicago black person.
Well the D’s fell for it hook, line and stinker ,and are now saddled with a doozy of a govenor, who got a big Caddy( the Queen Victoria that came with the job was so yesterday), the helicopter trip from the cape to Boston and the Berkshires!!! It is a fab story and it’s true…google it!
David Axelrod must go to bed every night and say to himself I am better than P T Barnum…I am going to do it twice!!!
Drudge is a log cabim Republican…those guys are very difficult to figure out. I think of Tammy Bruce alot when considering his motivation. She is dynamite and I love the way she know enough not to be used by the elite feminists in the country.

Absolutely. The entire GOP-owned mainstream media has been in bed with Rove from the very beginning, putting up their straw man Obama so they could knock him down in September with Larry Sinclair proof, more about Wright, Obama’s drug dealer(S) (yes that’s PLURAL) and Obama’s high school b/f. The plan WAS to secure him the nomination, than pull the rug out from under him in September. Code name “Et tu Brute”. The media saw it as a no-lose situation; by reviling Hillary in business-as-usual and propping up Obama, they could prove they were “fair, balanced, and unbaised”. Unless of course you were a woman or sensitive to Hillary disgust/hatred and immediately picked up on all of it, EVEN EMANTING FROM OBAMA HIMSELF DURING FACE TO FACE DEBATES.

What Rove and Co. couldn’t forsee was Larry Sinclair on his own accord coming out eight months early, not because of sexual allegations which are secondary as far as he’s concerned (honestly) but because of the hyprocrisy of drug use which has personally bothered Sinclair all his life because of his past profession. That put them in the awkward position of destroying Sinclair’s credibility while paying off all his witnesses to stay silent until Obama had secured the nomination. Tricky.

Rove and his NaziGOP have seen the Clinton’s as their number one enemy since their emergence. It was Rove and Poppy Bush behind the assassination attempt during a CBS interview when a heavy light was rigged to fatally fall squarely on one or both of their heads. It was Rove and his NaziGOp that made sure that Hillary would not remember where Chelsea was jogging the morning of 9-11, when her usual route was right around the WTC towers, and made sure Clinton was out the country on assignment. Thereby sending a very powerful message to BOTH Clintons that their daughters’ life was at stake if they ever challenged the Neocons on 9-11. Poppy has hated Bill Clinton with a passion that surpassed even his hatred of Saddam because of how the US public picked Clinton over him after his victorious ‘91 Gulf War. Everything that has happened since (9-11, Iraq, Dubyah, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Rice, total economic collapse and the hyperinflation gutting of the US dollar, and now, the upcoming nuking of Iran and the second Neocon 9-11 self-attack against American people to kick it off) has been Poppy Bush’s revenge against the US for tossing him aside, with Rove the evil drawf at his side and Jim Baker and other allies during his CIA running days as his “fixers”.

Poppy Bush and son hate the US even more than Barbara Bush hates God eternally for taking away their infant daughter.

So that’s the entire sordid and ugly US history of the political machinations of the past decade, starting with the Clinton NaziGOP impeachment and leading up to the continual destruction of Hillary’s candidacy today. The last thing the Neocons want is people to get in that had almost completely ended terrorism in the 90’s and had fixed the economy and BALANCED THE BUDGET FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE 20TH CENTURY.

P.S. I would be remiss if I didn’t discuss Rupert Murdoch. Whether his support of Hillary’s candidacy is merely reading the tea leaves after the mid-tern election of 2006 and knowing which side of the bread the butter is on, or whether it really represents a sea change in his thinking (MANY in the GOP have come to a realization that the one-party dominance Nazism of Rove was a doomed strategy, Murdoch would not be the first and certainly not the last) the jury is of course still out on that one. In a world where FOX news seems to be the only source of unbiased Obama (i.e., negative) coverage and relatively benign Hillary coverage (certainly compared to the previous eight years of nonstop character assassination), until we have a nominee we won’t know which way Fox News will be blowing. Even if Murdoch has seen the Light, he must still be able to claim plausible denial.

It could be a case for the first time in their history, regarding a Clinton vs. McCain race, where they would truly provide “fair and balanced” coverage. Which would be a welcome glimpse of Democracy’s light at the end of a very dark Fascist tunnel.

P.P.S. Poppy Bush and Bill Clinton have had an arms-length alliance, similar to the US-Israel alliance, where Clinton always watches what Bush’s other hand is doing at all times. The only thing that brought them together was the Chinese demonstration of their undersea earthquake and Tsunami-generation weapon in Sumatra. They (and the US military) weren’t there to help; they were there doing military reconnaissance. The day after was the only time in the entire Bush Presidency where both Dubyah and his wife faced the public cameras with faces of absolute terror. The video clips show it clearly. Not after their 9-11, but after this supposed “act of God”. China sends very strong messages. That Tsunami, by the way, was EXACTLY to the very HOUR and almost to the very MINUTE exactly ONE YEAR after the US had decimated the Iranian city of “Bam” and its several millions of people with a horrendous earthquake generated by subsonic (far below the level of human hearing) sound waves at billions of watts. Yes. In 2003. The VERY year Iran IMMEDIATELY suspended their nuclear program. NOW you know WHY.

China’s message? We DO NOT want all-out nuclear and nonconventional top secret warfare with you, but we are MORE THAN READY to respond IF YOU EVER ATTACK IRAN AND OUR OIL AGAIN.

And Russia and all its nuclear arsenal backs China up 100%. Not for nothing did they spend all of last year doing combined military exercises in the Pacific and in China.

Now you’re pretty much completely up to date on REAL US and world history. And why it is imperative to put Hillary Clinton in the White House and drive the Neocons back under their rocks again where they hid during the 90’s. The Neocons won’t dare to attack the American People again and hand all the resulting power to the Clintons during a Clinton Administration.

An Obama administration? Won’t ever happen, not now. Although if McCain keeled over from yet another stroke before November, Obama’s always been a closet Neocon, taking their money, their advice, their direction, and their promises. He was their stacked deck candidate, but the Democratic Party and the superdelegates have his number now. Being Rove’s tool as he is, he won’t even accept an eight year Vice Presidential path to the Presidency in 2016, the ONLY way a black man will EVER be elected to the Presidency in a still very racist America. This alone has been the straw that broke the camel’s back in the minds of many superdelegates. Democrats are the party and politicians of compromise and cooperation; for someone supposedly running on that platform to suicidally reject the Vice Presidency under Hillary Clinton is GOP/Rove/Nazi suicidal all-or-nothing strategy.

Well said! The media has been biased against Hillary the entire campaign while Obama got a free ride. He’s furious now because people are looking into his life and questioning his judgment. And the way he fights back will not be a man promising change, it will be the old school politics he pretends to hate so much. I’ll vote for McCain in 08 and I’ve let all of our Democratic senators know it by emails. James Cone the much admired figure at Trinity, said in his book, Black Theology and Black Power, “The time has come for white America to be silent and listen to black people.” This and Wright’s teachings are all Obama has heard for twenty years. Take a look at Michelle’s thesis at Princeton and then ask yourselves if he is going to be a President for all? When someone shoves something down my throat my immediate action is to throw up. And that’s what I will do in November by voting against him.

YOU ARE AN IDIOT WHAMULANCE IF YOU THINK OBAMA HAS A CHANCE IN THE BIG VOTE. HE CAN NOT AND WILL NOT WIN. HOW DOES THAT MAKE YOU FEEL, KNOWING THAT IF HE EVEN CAN GET THE NOMINATION, THERE IS NOWAY HE CAN WIN THE BIG ONE. NO WAY!

Wow, it’s no wonder Hillary is going to lose, because her supporters are such whiney losers. You can’t “vote for Hillary in November” because it is impossible for her to win the nomination. She would have to win every primary by 20 and somehow sway more superdelegates. She’ll burn the village to save herself because that is the Clinton way.

He has never answered the allegations made my Sinclair, but McCain will ask him before Novemember. Karl Rove will blast him for not suing the man if his allegations are false. Another case of Mum’s the word from the Obama campaign. Obama can not win in November and the party needs to understand that. As for Richardson, why didn’t he endorse Obama when it might have helped him? He’s the one who said the superdelegates should vote the will of their state. I’d like to remind him, his state went for Hillary. The party continuing to stand behind Obama is giving the Republicans the White House for another four years. And this country is now more divided than ever before thanks to Senator Obama. If he cared about this country, he’d drop out. How’s that for change?

I hate to break it to you but Larry just isn’t sincere. You know he’s moving this weekend. Has anybody asked him why? Ya’ll might remember when he started his bitching and moaning about someone turning him in for some kind of social security fraud or benefits fraud or some investigator sending him a letter? Well, think about it? He lives in a HUD building? Come one people. I hope you aren’t counting on my little bottom cup to be your great white hope…cause shoot he ain’t even all white.

I know he had ya’ll fooled with that old story about he had his name changed LEGALLY two times, but fooled ya’ll again. I know that everybody wants something to believe in, but look at the list of names he really used, and then think about how does somebody pull that off? Well, they have to be a pretty good liar and pretty good about keeping all them lies straight. I’ve just been sitting back watching him mess with everybody wondering if any of the ones who are so called supporters would wise up, but it seemed like no matter what anybody said they never would. So, I wrote Larry today and told him I was going to let people know that he had a few other names. He can say that his past don’t matter but his skeletons is bigger than bama’s. Thats what Jesus said about throwing stones, I reckon that’s what he meant. I asked him to post this on his space, but I don’t know if he will. I told him though I would put it other places since he has got so famous. I think people just need to know everything if they are going to make up there minds. He always did tell big stories.

No sense anybody needing to go searching for stuff I already know. Shoot I know old Lar from waaaay back. He can be nice but turn on you like a crazy snake. So those are just the names I know and the stuff I know he was in trouble for in CO before he came back down to TX.

oh and that 16 years stuff wasn’t the guilty plea, that was a trial. He fudged a little in his story on that blog. Those names are just the ones I know of.
