Filed under: Barack Obama, Jeremiah Wright

An August 2007 article published on the Newsmax blog indicates that Sen. Barack Obama was in church during a controversial sermon by Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Obama said on Friday that he was unaware of the kind of rhetoric Wright had used and that he was never in church when Wright made derogatory comments about the United States.

The Obama campaign has told members of the press that Senator Obama was not in church on the day cited in the report, July 22, 2007, because he was scheduled to give a speech in Miami on that day.

Newsmax writer Jim Davis says he attended several services at Obama’s church during the month of July, including on July 22. “Davis stands by his story that during one of the services he attended during the month of July, Senator Obama was present and sat through the sermon given by Rev. Wright as described in the story,” according to the site. “Davis said Secret Service were also present in the church during Senator Obama’s attendance.”

The window is very small that Odrama painted himself into. He will, of course, be outed for sitting in the church during some of the “lost time” he professes. He can’t have it both ways, and being a native PA , I can tell you that will cost him in the primary. If HRC can run a large margin starting now, and get a revote in one of the 2 states(esp. Fl) she could catch up ..Fl has 210 delegates.
Thank you BHDC for keeping the story going!

    Hey Al…
Think Obama’s team is pulling together the dates he WAS in church?? Think they are checking that list to videos??
It’s okay… It’s only Monday… We can wait a couple of days to find out..

Math is your friend! Even with the margins in FL as it stands now which will likely shrink in a revote, she still can’t catch him!

It’s almost laughable that HRC supporters find so much interest in ANY and EVERYTHING that is supposedly able to tank Obama’s campaign. A half white, half black man, raised by his white mother and white grandparents is somehow a racist vicariously through his minister! OMG, if anything he should be pro-white because his father is the one that left him. This is just pitiful the lengths you detractors will go to–to see HRC in the WH. She will never be POTUS, McCain will make sure of that.

    From the Obama website:

“Presidential candidate Barack Obama preaches on the campaign trail that America needs a new consensus based on faith and bipartisanship, yet he continues to attend a controversial Chicago church whose pastor routinely refers to ‘white arrogance’ and ‘the United States of White America.’ In fact, Obama was in attendance at the church when these statements were made on July 22.” FACT: Obama did not attend services on July 22nd.

Glad they cleared all that up..
It’s good to know Obama wasn’t clapping when Rev Wright was a rapping that day (maybe…anyway).

It’s funny that the camp is even responding to the article…
Could it be… they are scared shitless of what’s going to hit them next?? (The cult is in panic mode…

If the numbers in this new Rasmussen poll are an accurate reflection of the electorate’s sentiments, it would seem that Obama has not sufficiently distanced himself from his pastor, Jeremiah Wright, despite an aggressive media push on his part to do just that:

Most voters, 56%, said Wright’s comments made them less likely to vote for Obama. That figure includes 44% of Democrats. Just 11% of voters say they are more likely to vote for Obama because of Wright’s comments…
Overall, voters are evenly divided as to whether Obama should resign his membership in the Church—42% say that he should while 40% disagree. White voters, by a 46% to 33% margin, say that Obama should leave the Church. African-American voters, by a 68% to 16% margin, say he should not.

The poll also finds that Obama’s favorability rating fell to 47%, down five points from last Thursday — a drop that according to Rasmussen shows that the Wright story “has had at least a temporary impact on public perceptions of Obama,” though it strikes me as a stretch to read this as being solely because of Wright.

The poll also finds that Wright has a comically abysmal favorability rating of eight percent.

The version of truth that most people will embrace is that Odrama did know that his pastor said outrageous comments on a regular basis. He IS responsible for his affirming behavior( 20 years friendship, married by him, daughters baptised by Wright)and the ideas espoused are hostile, racist, bigotted, amd perverted to many in USA. It is a huge problem for the Odrama squad.
The American people are fair, and give others the benefit of the doubt(unlike the opinion voiced by Mrs. Obama in the New Yorker last week). There have actually been many inconsistencies in the Obama camp as of late, which is why this racial gaffe is getting so much impact. Mrs. Obama has said things very similiar to ole Jeremiah and up to now the press has given her a free pass. I found her message most disturbing and began to pay attention a few weeks ago. I look to the spouse as another view into a candidate.

Newsmax has acknowledged the incorrect date, but they stand by their story that Obama was present with Secret Service at the church on the day that Rev. Wright delivered the sermon. It’s interesting that the Obama campaign has denied his presence on July 22, but they have not denied that he was there for the sermon in question.

OBAMA WILL NEVER BE POTUS, I CAN EVEN IMAGINE THAT GUY AS A LEADER OF ANY COUNTRY LET ALONE AMERICA.

HE NEEDS TO GO TO KENYA AND PRACTICE FIRST BUT NEVER, EVER HERE.
HE IS RIGHT ABOUT ONE THING THOUGH THIS IS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA NOT BLACK AMERICAN AND EVEN IF HE AND JEREMIAH WRIGHT CAN MAKE THEIR CASE ABOUT BLACK PREACHERS, ONLY 13% OF AMERICA IS BLACK, I AM WHITE AND I DON’T UNDERSTAND STATEMENTS LIKE JEREMIAH WRIGHT SPEWS AND CERTAINLY NO ONE DOES EXCEPT BLACKS.
AMERICA IS NOT READY AND PERHAPS NEVER WILL BE FOR A BLACK PRESIDENT WHO ADVOCATES AND APPROVES OF THESE KINDS OF STATEMENTS JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE IS BLACK WHO SAYS THEM AFFIRMATIVE ACTION PREACHERS, NOW THAT’S A NEW ONE ON ME BUT IT WON’T FLY WITH WHITE AMERICA.

Sad to say, Lynne, but while there are still racists like you in America, I would agree with you. Read Obama’s books, listen to his speeches going back 20+ years, and find me *one* example of hatred towards white people in them. You will find none, because there aren’t there.

Perhaps you should listen to some of John Hagee’s sermons sometime — I have, and I’ve rarely seen such bile and vitriol for his fellow Americans being spewed from the pulpit. Hagee even blames the Jews for their own misfortunes, like the Holocaust, and call the Catholic Church the Great Whore of Babylon. Where’s the outrage after McCain’s embrace?

Obama has already won the Democratic nomination. It’s over. Regardless of how the remaining primaries and caucuses go, including Michigan and even Florida. Clinton can never catch Obama in elected delegates. His current lead of 170 pledged delegates will not be overcome no matter what happens. Even if Clinton beats him by 10 points in each of these primaries, he will still lead among elected delegates by over 100. The superdelegates will not override the will of the voters unless Obama is in jail. They will not let themselves in for a civil war by overruling a black man who is beloved by the young by going over the heads of the electorate and naming the candidate that lost the primaries as the nominee. Regardless of how damaged Obama may be by the Wright tapes, it will not provide sufficient cover or cause for them to do so
