Rev. Jeremiah Wright, a strong mentor to Sen. Barack Obama for over twenty years, has been forced to step down as a leader with Obama’s African American Religious Leadership Committee.
During a live interview with Keith Olbermann on Friday night, Obama would not say whether he fired Wright, or if the radical holy man stepped down on his own. Earlier in the day, the Obama camp had declined to say that Wright would be forced to step down.
On the Olbermann show, Obama said he does not “repudiate” Wright “as a man,” and Obama said he still considers Wright to be “like an uncle.” The senator added that he never remembered sitting in on any of Wright’s controversial sermons.
Obama also said that his relationship with embattled real estate developer Tony Rezko has been mischaracterized.
Olbermann, who has long appeared to be supportive of Obama on various MSNBC programs, seemed visibly shaken to be questioning Obama about these scandals.

I want to think the best of Sen. Obama, but cannot understand how he could have associated with this racist pastor and church for 20 years without it rubbing off on him. What does Sen. Obama really believe about race, ethnicity, class, etc.? I thought his campaign was so refreshing because he had not made race an issue and then his wife makes the comments she has made and here is his pastor who is a foaming at the mouth racist bigot. Can one imagine if Hillary or McCain’s spirtual advisor, mentor, and guiding voice said, “all of this world’s ills have been caused by African-Americans and Jews” and McCain’s response was, “I don’t believe everything he has to say.” There would be hysteria. THe same would be true if we found out that Hillary has been attending KKK meetings for the last 20 years — we would want to know more, right? Since this story came to light, I have research many publications and sermons Rev. Jeremiah Wright has offered his congregation. I am highly offended and appalled at the suggestion and comments insinuation by Rev. Wright.
Dr. Wright’s beliefs, philosophies and teachings are very divisive, racially charged, controversially motivated. Which is in direct conflict with the kind of change Senator Obama is trying to sell the American voters.
With all do respect, as in many topics in the past, Senator Obama is trying to dismiss or divert this situation. By insinuating Rev. Wright, is nothing more than a loose lip uncle. Being a person of faith, I must say here, I do not seek my spiritual guidance and fellowship for such a divisive character. Senator Obama has stated on many occasions, Rev. Jeremiah Wright has been and is a major influence in his life. Rev. Wright has been Obama’s leading spiritual mentor, even indirectly giving the Senator the name for his book. Dr. Wright and Trinity United Church of Christ has been the Senator’s spiritual foundation for the last twenty years.
One of my many questions: How can Senator Obama claim to be a person to unite when his spiritual mentor and adviser is clearly a separatist? At it’s core, this seems to me to be in direct conflict. I would be rejecting that kind of message, not continue to support the foundation, for 20 years, from which it came. On a personal note, if my spiritual leadership preached as Dr. Wright has done. I would not be standing in praise, but rather standing to walk out!
Obama is finished. There is nothing he can say to disassociate himself from over 20yrs of this stuff. He can’t say that he never heard his racist minister say these kind of things over the years. Obama said his minister was one of the most influential people in his life and it will be almost impossible for him to back peddle now.

I used to look at Obama differently, first his wife apparently claimed to be proud of her country, only after the first primary victories, and now the stuff about his pastor I think the more information that comes out the more he starts to look like another dissatisfied individual, who despised living and prospering in this country, fosters negative thoughts about the nation. I think times are too dangerous and too critical to be led by a man whose views of America are anything other than pure pride respect and admiration.

Maybe he was looking for his black identity but there are so many mainstream black churches that preach unity. Obama knew this was radical Black Liberation Theology. I really have a problem with Obama’s asociation with his minister. What kind of judgement does he have to bring his family to church to hear hatefull anti-american preachings. No wonder his wife said what she did about her fellings toward America.
