    ferraro.jpgGeraldine Ferraro, the Democratic Party’s vice presidential nominee in 1984, has told a California newspaper, “If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept.”

    And now the Obama campaign is calling on Sen. Hillary Clinton to fire Ferraro as a fundraiser.

    “When you wink and nod at offensive statements you’re really sending a signal to your supporters that anything goes,” David Axelrod, the top adviser to Obama, is quoted as saying.

    The question remains: was Ferraro wrong?

      Please do tell when Obama played the race card. I was an objective obeserver of this campaign until about two weeks ago, and I have yet to see him play the race card. It is Hillary’s supporters than continually bring up race.

      And how, based on his campaign team, can you say he will fill all of his cabinet with African Americans? He has an extremely diverse campaign team, and almost none of his most important advisors or directors are African American.

      I am simply asking that this campaign be about the issues, the candidates,this country and its people. Race and sex have no place in any of this.

      Maybe I’m naive, but I truly believe we can have a campaign with a woman and a black man as the two candidates where race and sex are not an issue. Geraldine’s comments don’t help this.

      What is the difference between Geraldine’s comments and Power’s? Power’s stated a comment I deemed as true and got fired. Now you Hillarytards think that it is petty because you think what Geraldine said was true!       So you are placing more value on Geraldine’s freedom of speech versus Power’s? That is what you are telling me.       Are you serious? Do YOU know how long Ferraro was in politics before she was considered as VP?

      Geraldine Ferraro was born in 1935. In 1984, she was 49 years old, and had served 5 years in the US House of Representatives.

      Barack Obama was born in 1961. In 2008, he is 47 years old. He has served in the IL State Legislature for 8 years, and in the US Senate for 5 years.

      IT IS NOT TRUE, it is an OPINION. Same as with Power’s. You just happen to agree with it. Just like I agree with Power’s. That is the problem it is an opinion and their is no concrete proof otherwise. If there is proof to Geraldine’s claim prove it! You are trying to make this a referendum on gender or race when it is not! Clinton has had to work hard to get where she has no doubt about it, but you are not going to tell me she worked harder than Obama. Obama was actually in the Presidential Race BEFORE Hillary. She should have waited! Why should he have waited? Just like why should he take a VP slot? Why does Hillary and her supporters think that this was supposed to be her race or is owed to her?

      Geraldine Ferraro was born in 1935. In 1984, she was 49 years old, and had served 5 years in the US House of Representatives.

      Barack Obama was born in 1961. In 2008, he is 47 years old. He has served in the IL State Legislature for 8 years, and in the US Senate for 5 years.

      Well I am sure we would have an equally rosy time as Hillary and Bill will no doubt be in any number of lawsuits and mischief. She is running as a women’s lib candidate and not the best qualified candidate. I don’t care if you are a women period! I want a PERSON, woman or man, black, white, blue, or purple that I feel is the best person for the job. Time after time, after time, Hillary is running on the platform of a strong woman candidate, and not the best candidate. Obama is not running as a black candidate he is running as the best candidate. He doesn’t mention race in his speeches. That is a deathblow, look at Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson…how many states did they win? He is running as everyones President, Hillary seems to be running as a President for women.
