OTTAWA (CP) — Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton never gave Canada any secret assurances about the future of NAFTA such as those offered by Barack Obama’s campaign, Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s office said Friday.

With the NAFTA affair swirling over the U.S. election and Canadian officials skittish about saying anything else that might influence the race, it took the PMO two days to deliver the information.

It’s not front page because the MSM is STILL coddling Obama hoping to save face and save him. The National Enquirer is taking advantage of this void in the media and covering Obama thoroughly. Their front page story tells a lot about him and the public has to keep demanding that the MSM do more to inform them about him. Obama poses a clear and present danger to America and should be treated as such; not coddled.

I am relieved to read this report, and it added credibility coming from the prime minister’s official statement. I was concerned when Obama camp was muddling the water by saying that it’s Clinton advisor who FIRST contacted Canada for the Nafta issue. So please spread the word and let more people know the truth.

What a distorted and misleading post. The Canadian government has also said there were no secret assurances from the OBAMA camp and that the earlier memo that implied otherwise was misleading.

  1. 12. Young is lying, the Canadian Press says Obama leaked said:

The Associated Press obtained a Canadian government memo indicating that Austan Goolsbee, Obama’s senior economic policy adviser, met Canadian diplomats the consulate in Chicago last month. The memo said that the Obama campaign had offered Canada assurances that Obama would leave NAFTA untouched.

  1. 13. Young said:

As I pointed out, the memo was misleading and the Canadian government admitted as such. The Canadian government subsequently released a statement about the memo saying, “there was no intention to convey, in any way, that Senator Obama and his campaign team were taking a different position in public from views expressed in private.”

Sal, thanks for the article. It actually raises more questions about the Clinton camp’s complicity than it answers. Multiple sources claim they heard Brodie say the Clinton camp gave assurances about NAFTA. Brodie says he doesn’t ‘recall.’ The Canadians now deny they got assurances from Clinton, but they’re also denying that they got assurances from Obama.

It seems to me that you want to believe the Canadian government about Clinton but not about Obama. Also, it’s curious that the right-wing government of Canada is going to conduct an internal investigation of the leaked memo but are not going to call in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (the rough equivalent of our FBI) as the liberals in the government demand.

No, they say they got assurances from Obama. Read it again, spinner.

  1. 17. Young said:

Why do you believe Harper’s right-wing administration when it says the Clinton camp made no assurances? Harper’s chief of staff says he can’t ‘recall’ if he said that the Clinton camp made no assurances. There were multiple witnesses who say otherwise. That’s a heck of lot more evidence against Clinton than Larry Sinclair has ever produced against Obama!

Sal, this is what your article says, “assurances about the future of NAFTA such as those allegedly offered by Barack Obama’s campaign.” The key word is “allegedly.” Moreover, the Canadian consulate from which the memo came has has denied that there were such assurances.

Seems very clear that you’re spinning the article Sal. Quote anything in that article that says the Obama camp really did give assurances about NAFTA. You can’t.

    Here is the entire quote:

“Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton never gave Canada any secret assurances about the future of NAFTA such as those allegedly offered by Barack Obama’s campaign, Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s office said Friday.”

BIGHEADDC left out the word “allegedly” and in the process has just smeared Obama. And apparently they’ve fooled the gullible here into believing the smear.

Don’t weasel out of this, Sal. There is nothing in the article that says Obama’s camp actually gave the Canadians any assurances.

BIGHEADDC has fooled you by omitting the word “allegedly” from the Canadian statement. In the process, BIGHEADDC has not only smeared Obama but grossly mischaracterized a statement from the Canadian government. I wonder if Larry Sinclair is the editor here.

Sal, how much do you want to bet that BIGHEADDC does not have the integrity to correct their headline? It seems far more likely they’ll simply delete my posts, but I’m willing to be pleasantly surprised.
