I saw the tucker interview and I think it was great. He wasn’t trying to out Obama or Clinton. He was trying - successfully - to show that Gerri Peev is a terrible journalist. Why would you publich something that’s off the record that will only harm someone? It won’t do a bit of help to Clinton or McCain. Journalists go to jail for not disclosing their sources but this lady was out to make a name for herself by gravely injuring another person’s career.

Everyone must agree that Power was quite naive in making such a statement to the foreign press.

Good British journalists (such as myself) must report the facts (interesting facts, that is) in a fair balanced and accurate fashion. You can’t be more fair balanced or accurate that reporting precisely what someone says. Peev reported it because she said it and it was interesting. It was interesting enough to get her fired. You people over there don’t have many journalists who are keen to interrogate the rich and powerful in your interests - this is what Tucker Carlson (son of a banker) was saying. That’s a bad thing. You want people who don’t show too much respect for the people who are in power so they can find out what they are up to and tell it to their readers. If every time one of them said something interesting, they could have it struck out of the conversation - a conversation which is being held to further their candidate’s chances of being nominated, don’t forget - then there would be less interesting stuff in the papers that accurately reflected the character of the people who wield influence over you all. Or is that a little complicated as a concept for people like fat rat who can’t spell, even phonetically?
