Samantha Power, Sen. Barack Obama’s top foreign policy adviser, has just resigned from his campaign for president. She had been drawing much negative attention to the campaign after calling Sen. Hillary Clinton a “monster” in an interview published yesterday. Several Congress members had called on Obama to fire her this morning.

Obama should just accept the VP position — he’s going to make himself look so bad if he stays in this. Power is just the beginning. He’s young, he could learn a lot as VP and have a strong case in 2016. His inexperience is costing his credibility.

Early in Barack Obama’s political career in Illinois, Jesse Jackson helped slap him down. Even now, Jackson’s son is a more vocal Obama advocate than his internationally known father.
Obama and the elder Jackson have much in common: The two black men emerged from Chicago’s decayed South Side as champions of poor people. Both have a gift for rhetoric. Both have run to be the nation’s first black president.
There are long-standing friendships between some members of their families.
Yet the two are not close. Twenty years older, Jackson, the trailblazer, was never Obama’s mentor.
Eight years ago, Obama, a little-known state senator, mounted an upstart challenge to four-term incumbent Bobby Rush for his U.S. House seat. Jackson endorsed Rush. President Clinton also joined the effort to stop the newcomer. He overrode his policy of staying out of Democratic primaries to back Rush, who trounced Obama more than 2-to-1.
That’s not the only time Jackson was in Obama’s way. In 1995, he tried to arrange for his son to get the state Senate seat that Obama eventually won in his first political race.
Obama supporters will just say this is what everyone is thinking about Clinton anyway, completing ignoring that Hillary has numerous supporters.
The internet has given too much power to younger, juvenile men. I wish there were more middle-aged women out here in the blogosphere to counter out a lot of these young people that have MAYBE voted in one election ever.
Clinton is a monster and thats why I support her…the conservative movement is one giant monster and this Clinton monster is going to swallow them whole.
I think Obama made a mistake in runnig the same year Clinton ran. The star is going to burnout by the end of this primary
Middle-aged women for the most part are much too busy with their jobs, taking care of their families and their volunteer activities to spend much time on the Internet. But they will come out to vote for the monster.
Drazx, HIllary is doing everything in her power to diminish Obama’s star. If she can’t win (and given the delegate math, she can’t), she doesn’t want Obama to win the presidency. In this way she could run again in 2012 and tell the electorate that they voted for the wrong Democratic candidate in 2008. In other words, she’s trying to subject this country to another Republican administration just to keep her own political ambitions alive for 2012. Disgusting. She is truly a monster.
Perhaps the US could use some a “monster” working on its behalf. But make no mistake about one thing. Hillary is a “monster” who works only for herself and her personal ambitions. She would sell out America if that would advance her ambitions, as she is by trying to ensure that a Republican administration wins in 2008 given that she has no chance to win it herself.

The sad thing is that many Hillary supporters know in their heart of hearts that what I’m saying is true. This is why the “monster” charge is so offensive to them.

I think we women need to bring out our “feminist football helmet”! The younger generation of women seem to have lost respect for the contributions of many women that pave the way for them.
Instead of Fem-bashing Hillary Clinton, perhaps Samantha Power (or the lack of) should be using her journalistic rants to highlight and enlighten that March is Women’s History Month.
I have been in the corporate world for 20 years. I can confirm, women are still fighting for equality every day. In 2008, women are still paid less than their male counter parts for the same production.
I find it disturbing, it’s becoming a trend in this country, women verbally axing women with more power than them. It seem to me, to be some form of self-hatred!

That is why you should encourage Hillary to withdraw now and help bring the party together. I don’t see why she is still running since she is mathematically out of the race now! She is only further dividing the party. She is one person that will never get the presidency I am sad to say. A woman will one day I am sure, but she has way to much baggage. A lot of dems, repubs, and indies will vote McCain if they see her name! Why don’t you understand that? It’s not about her winning, its’ whats best for the democratic party and even moreso what is best for the U.S.

This along with NAFTA-gate and a slew of other incriminating things make Clinton an nonviable candidate.
America is well aware of Hillary Clinton due to the millions and millions of tax payers’ dollars spent (reportedly 73 million) by Ken Star, and his gang, trying to drag her into the gutter with lies, unsuccessfully. The focus now is on Barack Obama and he is unable to withstand it, hence, Powers and her ignorant remarks. The fact that she resigned is owing to the public outcry against her, not to Obama’s good judgment to fire her, he didn’t. We know Hillary well and we know how eagerly she gets investigated for every hint of any impropriety regarding her, regardless to how baseless it maybe. We are now demanding some semblance of equity regarding Obama: remove Powers, come clean about Rezko, answer the drug use charges by Sinclair, explain what involvement, if any, there was in the death of Donald Young, what campaign money is being used from the Iraqi billionaire Auchi, how is Alsammarae connected to this campaign as well as Mahru? These are the foreign issues Powers should have been addressing instead of calling names. Let someone else answer now that she’s gone. We would appreciate Obama being that someone. MSM get on this case and stop pandering to Obama.
