Larry Sinclair filed suit in Minnesota District Court on Monday against Barack Obama, along with Obama’s campaign strategist David Axelrod and others, regarding issues stemming from Sinclair’s allegations that he used cocaine and performed a sexual act with Obama in 1999. Abbreviated excerpt:
This action is brought pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 1981, 18 U.S.C. 241 and the First Amendment of the United States Constitution’s right to Freedom of Speech. Defendants have and continue to conspire against the rights of citizens in that they are actively engaged in ongoing internet intimidation, claim to be conducting illegal investigations into plaintiff’s personal life, actively involved in preventing allegations of illegal drug use and sexual activity involving Defendant Obama from becoming public knowledge.
Plaintiff states that he personally engaged in sexual activity and personally used illegal drugs in November 1999 with U.S. Senator Barack Obama on two separate occasions. Plaintiff states that he attempted to contact defendant Obama in the fall of 2007 to advise defendant Obama to make his 1999 use of illegal drugs public himself and that if he did not do so then plaintiff would have no choice but to come forward as defendants’ actions were relevant to his running for President of the United States. Defendant Obama ignored plaintiffs attempts to allow defendant Obama to reveal this information on his own.
This doesn’t look good for Obama.
Several reporters have had this story since last fall (without the added lawsuit), but have been afraid to run it, since Obama has become such an icon in the Democratic party. This will not only end his presidential bid. It will end his career in politics. Because of one big mistake. He is worshiped by a Democratic press, who has hidden this dirtiness for him. No doubt, it will come out.

A lot of the doubt about this story will come from those who (rightly) point out that Sinclair is not as handsome as one would expect a companion of Obama’s to be. But now on his YouTube profile, Sinclair has posted a photograph taken on that 1999 trip so that we can see what he looked like back then. I still have no idea if this story is true, but would love for the media to investigate and either exonerate Obama or establish Sinclair’s charges. Because it is hard for me to even look at Obama on television with the thought that these allegations could be true…

This is exactly what happens when we vet pols on hope alone. It very well could be true, based on Obama’s past in Chicago.
I think personally the most disturbing allegations against Obama are his using illegal drugs and having what essentially amounts to sex with a stranger. These are still the kinds of behavior that make any person in power a good target for extortion. Suppose someone wants to harm Obama - all they have to do is approach him like Sinclair did - in that compromising position, Sinclair could easily harm Obama either physically or politically with no sweat.

If this were a lie, Obama’s campaign would have immediately sought a libel/slander suit against Sinclair. Yet there has been a deafening silence! And a media blackout!
It is working, you all believe it. This lawsuit will be proven to be frivolous with time, but at that point it won’t matter. It will have served it’s purpose. Everyone was in denial about New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevey having homosexual sex at rest stops, behind churches, and in alleys too. I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if these allegations prove to be true.
Larry first made his claims in September of LAST YEAR — before Obama was even a credible contender. The L.A. Times has been working on this story, and has decided to hold off — for fear of being the first one to damage the campaign. Whatever outlet runs it first will be branded as destroying “HOPE.”

I have produced a lot of evidence to reporters to support my claims. Everyone wants the driver, and he is not (and I understand his reasons) coming out yet because Axelrod and Obama are promising something (I believe). If you think otherwise, you people do not realize just how rough and corrupt Chicago politics has always been and still is when it is putting millions in Axelrod’s pockets.

Larry Craig, David Vitter, Mark Foley all risked their power by doing foolish things — even after the Bill Clinton affair, and they knew people would still pay attention to sex scandals. My guess is Obama couldn’t so easily quit the drug habit. Which is why he continued smoking until just a few months ago. I’m just not surprised that he would have needed a fix while in office.
What drug habit? There was recently an article in NYT claiming he exaggerated his drug use. There is no evidence, except this guy which isn’t much evidence, that he ever used illegal drugs after Occidental. And how does this guy perfectly remember this encounter after nine years?

Larry, none of this is true. This will never be published, even if you were honest, because you have no evidence. Receipts from hotels or bars or limos do not establish that Obama was there. I can say that in 1998 I went to Disney World with Barack Obama, we rode space mountain, and stayed at the Grand Floridian for a week. We even went to dinner at the Rainforest Cafe in Disney Downtown. I have receipts for all these things that I’ve done in the past. Tell me how they establish Obama’s presence….Exactly. That’s essentially what you’re doing. Do you have anything to corroborate your story? Anything that shows Obama was even in Chicago on the “night” in question.
That being said, I think you probably suffer from mythomania. I have had a friend who suffers from the same. People with this disorder fervently believe what they say is true, even though they are clearly delusions. What troubles me most about this is that you claim to have taken a polygraph test. You will probably pass it. People with mythomania always do.
Furthermore, a question. Why is it that you were able to, in your interview with Rense, recall precisely what bottles of booze were in the limo over eight years ago? Yet you couldn’t recall the name of the bar. You also could provide no evidence of where he actually took you to get the drugs.
Last thing. The guy in the new photo on youtube is clearly not you. Clearly. You should have looked closer. While men’s ears do continue to grow as they age, you are still relatively young and you ears have apparently gone from small and sticking out to large and pressed against your head. It is obviously not you.
One more thing while I remember. I actually am one of the few who don’t believe you to be connected to any politician or party. However, how do you explain the propagation of this video on almost exclusively Ron Paul-supporting websites. Just curious about that. If you see this comment, I’d really appreciate your response. As little as I believe your story, it troubles me to see the campaign of someone who is clearly a good man with a good family (I’m not a supporter) become the target of something like this.

I think there are too many Obama supporters that do not understand how the game of politics is played. If Obama gets the nomination, they are going to see just what the Republicans have on him. Wouldn’t it be better to know now so he can prepare to fight against what ever it is we have not been told? Do we really know who Obama is? Please explain the basis for a civil suit based on 2 consensual acts, (one of which is illegal) between adults. I realize a law suit can be filed for just about anything, but one man can’t sue another for doing cocaine. That has to be a criminal charge, which Sinclair can’t bring as a private citizen. Is Sinclair saying that Barry forced him to have sex, or took advantage of him once he was high. If so, that would constitue contributary negligence on Sinclair’s part and be the end of it. Of course Barry would have to defend the suit to get to that point, which would include so much as admitting that the sex happened, and he ain’t gonna do that.

you DON’T evaluate possibilities, you evaluate evidence. the only evidence so far, is one guy, making unbelievable claims, with a cap on, eyes shaded, reading cue cards, on a youtube video taken in a motel by the highway.
when outrageous claims are made, you don’t suspend suspicion and look for how it could be true, you must be that much more suspicious. I can see it’s a problem already, because there are people who will think it true, because they heard it. but you have to question some things: the timing, the source, the choice of media (youtube), and whether or not he stands to gain personally. our culture rewards the infamous, and has a sick perversion for this kinda stuff, this guy’s trying to make a buck.

I have heard read some that think Republicans are behind this…that wouldn’t make sense. They’d want to wait until he has sown up the nomination. This reeks of Clintonian win at all costs politics.
This thing needs to be handled quickly. If Sinclair is a liar, the Obama camp should nail him good and then get on with the campaign. If it is true Obama should drop out. It is sickening for stuff like this to be used to discredit a candidate and if the truth comes out that it is a lie there should be serious repercussions for the guilty party or parties. The truth needs to come out to put this to rest once and for all.

There is a very good reason not to respond to outlandish claims without CREDIBLE evidence.
I am a McCain supporter, but I am not ready to believe these allegations until there is hard evidence. I’ve seen no evidence that would substantiate these allegations and until I do, I won’t give them credibility. Nowadays, anyone can post a video and make ridiculous and outlandish assertions. Having said that, it may be that the media has held back from reporting this until they can either debunk the claim or verify it, which is what any responsible media organization should do. Should Mr. Sinclair’s claims be substantiated, it would spell the end of Mr. Obama’s political future. The claims are extremely disturbing.
This is garbage, but I knew it was coming. These types of garbage websites, stories, and attacks were already starting when Obama was running for the U.S. Senate. All the lies that have now come out and been proven untrue (that he’s a muslim, etc.) are just part of the process. You can spread your lies all you want, but in the end people will realize that this is not true.
For those of you who think this is true, look at the source. Look at the date (last week, once Obama’s momentum is soaring!) Of course it deals with drugs, because that’s the only thing people will believe, because Obama has already admitted drug use in his past, and he admitted it 13 years ago, long before he ever ran for public office. Like I said, you can try to smear him, but you will fail (this kind of thing always does).
Even if this is a lie, the lawsuit appears to be real. That stands a chance to be reported on Conservative talk shows, Fox News or the Drudge Report. I don’t think that NBC/MSNBC would ever even consider saying ANYTHING negative about their golden boy. However, I do believe that his love affair with even the liberal media will not last forever.
FYI - 300 college kids are paid by Obamas camp to post on blogs and news forums. Look it up it’s true. Now that to me is very unfair and twisted!

I’m not an Obama fan, however, I’m not going to give this any weight until he responds. As with the McCain situation, the media has a way of taking things to the extreme. We have to be a smarter public. Let’s wait before we “burn the witch at the cross.” Still….GO HILLARY!
