HOT HEADLINERS

Filed under: Scoops, FOX News, Duncan Hunter, Ron Paul, Fergus Cullen

Big Head DC hears that Fergus Cullen, head of the New Hampshire GOP, has caved to demands to include Ron Paul and Duncan Hunter in FOX News Channel’s Sunday evening forum, and has therefore withdrawn from the partnership the state Republican Party had previously secured with the network.

Big Head DC contacted FOX News to find out whether the forum was still in play and we’re told it will continue as scheduled with Huckabee, Romney, McCain, Giuliani and Thompson, serving as the last exchange between the candidates before Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary.

Moderated by Chris Wallace, the 90-minute forum is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. ET live on FNC. David Rhodes, Vice President of News for Fox News Channel said in a statement, “We look forward to presenting a substantive forum which will serve as the first program of its kind this election season.”

If they excluded Ron Paul on the basis that he is behind in the polls, then they should exclude Rudy Guiliani who is behind Paul.

Good for Fox for narrowing the field to those with a remote chance of winning. If after numerous debates and 11 months of campaigning Hunter or the delusional crank Ron Paul haven’t gained enough traction to be competetive, another debate performance isn’t going to help them.

The 7 and 8 man “debates” are a joke. Time to let the big boys go at it with time to fully explain their positions.

Then why not narrow Giuliani, too? Or Thompson for that matter?

  1. More of the free-fall of the GOP. A word to the wise….get rid of the OPEN BORDERS ZEALOTS and the Republicans will truly “surge” back and run away with this election…trust me…

Unfortunately for the Paul bashers, he DID take 10% in Iowa, which is very close to the 13% for McCain and Thompson. Plus Zogby reporting 14% New Hampshire numbers (with an internal 86% “certain support” means Paul absolutely IS a viable, credible candidate.

These numbers are double those of Giuliani in both states.

Fox’s ignoring him is flat out unconscionable behavior. The GOP is right to withdraw sponsorship of this forum, which is now nothing more than a “shill platform” for a narrow few candidates.

Paul and Hunter were left out because of their NATIONAL poll numbers, neither is in the double digits nation wide. Thus the reason that Thompson and McCain are in even though they finished only narrowly above Paul, and Guiliani is in because he still leads in the nationwide polls.

Consistent with that tradition, we believe all recognized major candidates should have an equal opportunity to participate in pre-primary debates and forums.” […]

Ron Paul beat Giuliani in Iowa. By your logic, Paul should take Giuliani’s seat at the Fox event.

if the past is a reasonable predictor, dr. paul would be ignored for the first third of the forum/debate. then, for the next third, the good ol’ boys will be chawing about whether fred should have entered the race earlier.

huckabee will speak about “honor” and mixing metaphors for the soldiers’ blood; rommney will harken back to olympic days and smack huckabee on immigration; giuliani will insert terrorists, terrorists, terrorists, 9/11, terrorists…; and the “coulda won vietnam, ‘cept the public at home” and “let us win” cry of mccain, will serve up spin on ammesty to go along with his hundred-year war plan.

as for dr. paul, can you say, “a blessing in disguise?

The pro CFR Candidate responders here are the real losers. Hope they are of draft age so if any of the war machine candidates win they can draft their ass.

If not of draft age I hope those pro CFR candidates have little money because their favorites will drive them into the poor house.

The bottome line is those pro CFR candidates probably don’t know what the CFR is and are usually welfare wood chucks anyway.

GO RON PAUL YOU BUNCH OF IGNORANT JERKS YOU ARE THE REAL RETARDS.
