Gawker empire owner Nick Denton has never much been fond of Maer Roshan’s Radar publication, so you just gotta wonder how he’s going to feel when he finds out that John Clarke Jr., the recently installed editor of Denton’s Wonkette, has taken to writing Washington-focused stories for Radar’s online column “Fresh Intelligence.” Alex Balk, a top editor at Denton’s flagship Gawker publication, recently left Denton to join Radar as its chief online editor. Is this a sign of Balk’s plans to poach more of Denton’s staffers in the coming days?

You’re joking, right?
It’s true! So very true!
knowing John, he probably worked it our with Roshan and Denton in some kind of threesome — a meeting of the minds, i mean.
Why hasn’t John posted at Wonkette all day? Has he jumped ship, too?
HAHAHAHA! John told “my friend” that he’d never work for Radar.
Hmm. John Clarke is now writing for Radar. He was at Wonkette for like a month, in which time he did little more than write bad posts about porn stars’ titties and how black people like fried chicken, and now, after a couple of weeks without a single post on Wonkette he’s at Radar.
I don’t want to pile on, though. I can’t imagine how much it must suck to get canned right before Christmas AND have to work at Radar. Hell, I can’t imagine how much it must suck to be John Clarke on a good day, let alone now.
But is he really absolutely no longer with Wonkette, PD? He e-mailed BHDC from a Wonkette e-mail addy after our post today… And, do tell, what is it like to be John Clarke on a good day?
I know the guy’s name is on the masthead, but he hasn’t posted so much as a comment in two weeks. He may be able to spoof a wonkette.com e-mail address, but for a guy who seems to live to spout unfunny, non-political crap on a site for political gossip and humor he hasn’t written a word for an awful long time.
Search for his name on a story, and search for it on the comment boards. It simply ain’t there. Hell, even their intern’s got a half dozen bylines today.
As for what it’s like to be John Clarke, I’d rather not say. There isn’t enough alcohol in all of Washington to drown that kind of nightmare.
I know who ISN’T working at Radar anymore: Rob! Ha!!!!!
You might want to ask Big Head why BCC is such a mystery.
Word on the street is that the entire Gawker network coalesced for the ousting of JCJ, multiple editors from various titles phoning in the complaints on our sad little, porn-addled, in-over-his-head Johnny. They’ve could’ve at least transferred him to Fleshbot — but gone for good, relegated to the sinking ship of Radar? A sad end. But maybe he’ll move back to NYC and get the fuck out of own town, now.
:-(|)
John Clarke Jr. got a spanking from Nick Denton today. But it wasn’t any kind of punishment, let me tell you.

[…] The change is not exactly shocking, as Big Head DC recently noted (twice) that Clarke had started freelancing for Radar, a chief competitor to Denton’s Gawker. Within days of those revelations, Clarke was out at Wonkette. That a second editor has left Denton to work for Radar (the first was Alex Balk) has got to be a slap in Denton’s face, especially considering the mass quitting of three of his top editors at Gawker in December.
