Rep. Julia Carson passed away today at the age of 69. She announced in November that she was suffering from terminal lung cancer and didn’t plan to seek re-election. She’s been away from the House since September after visiting a doctor.
Carson was the first African American and the first woman elected to represent Indianapolis, Indiana in Congress. She was known as an outspoken critic of the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
Rest in peace, Julia.
Julia Carson put her vote where her conscience was- NO on Iraq in 2002. If there’s a heaven, this will look good on her resume.
Your definition of suddenly must be different than the rest of the world. Julia has been sick for some time. If your going to blog at least know your facts.
She just announced she was sick in November. Dying one month later is kind of sudden, especially considering that Elizabeth Edwards has terminal cancer and is expected to live for decades.
She wasn’t expected to die for years.
Julia was a wonderful woman and will be missed.
