Perhaps you don’t want to believe the Benjamin Nicholas / Trent Lott story because you played a role in once hiring Nicholas, an alleged plagiarist, to write a few articles for your newspaper, The Stranger? Have you had communications with Nicholas since this story broke? If so, what has he told you? Have you not been honest in explaining your relationship with him? Most importantly, why did he risk his negatively affecting escort business by not flat-out denying a Lott relationship in his original e-mails?
Dan Savage’s credibility is ruined. It’s over.
What I want to know is whethr Dan ever tickled Ben? And, if so, could that jeopardize his adoption proceedings?
Yes, Horse Sense, that information would jeopardize the adoption. In the name of child welfare, call a case worker FAST!

Having seen the reaction of Savage, Rogers and Aravosis to the Trent Lott story not being broken by them, I now know the meaning of the gay mafia. No babies for any of them!

How weird is it to have a gay icon like Dan Savage actually pay attention to everything we post? We like.
I was at a party in Seattle in 2005. Dan and Ben were in a lip lock. If he denies it, he’s lying.
I personally question how Ben Nicholas first “hooked up,” with Dan Savage, as it were. I don’t have a problem with hookers, but I do have a problem with Dan not explaining his bias toward Ben in reporting this story. He’s just the latest dirty member of the gay journalist mafia.

And then Dan posts a pic of an almost nude Ben Nicholas. How he got involved with Nicholas is a great question that he just skims over.
Dan Savage is a total tool. he prances around giving gays a bad name and wearing “his” child like a fashion accessory. It wouldn’t be the first time he has had his head so far up his ass he misses the point.
He likes to out people based on speculation and rumour. He likes to bash gay people for being gay if they disagree with him on anything. He is a horrible spokesman for gay people, yet he has appointed himself so.
He should be pushing trent lott to explain why he was diddling a male escort, and punishing lott for being gay, not questioning the veracity or accuracy of this story. We all know its true.
Care to explain yourself Dan, over here, instead of on SLOG where you are sucked off on a daily basis?

Dan Savage needs to resign from his position at The Stranger IMMEDIATELY. He hired — and slept with! — a subordinate who wrote (plagiarized) articles for the paper. The paper’s credibility hangs on a thread and Savage needs to make this right.
I’m going to write the syndicator of his column and ask that, as a matter of integrity, they cancel him.

FYI, Savage published someone’s naked picture on SLOG without their permission. But when called on it, Savage said the naked guy said he could publish his pictures. How could the naked guy have given permission before he even knew Savage had published the pic? Those two are working together.

Do tell us washingtonians what we’re missing. i read savage love and know he’s full of santorum, but what other scandals have i been missing.
mostly regarding local politics, you have to parse many of their stories against what is known about their personal relationships or agendas. the stranger has endorsed candidates for local office without disclosing personal relationships (see: stephanie pure), or recently arguing in favor of drunk driving after their favored horse was arrested for DUI the day absentee ballots were mailed (see: venus velazquez).
generally speaking they practice a brand of “advocacy journalism” that requires close reading.
dan has referred to the stranger as “a performance” much like street theatre. which is exactly what I think of fox news as: a performance. entertaining, anecdotally informative, but by no means credible. it sells ads.
I love Dan Savage. He is a great American — reading his column gives me hope for this country. Seriously, his commitment to freedom and continued willingness to good sense and honesty are really reassuring. If you don’t read his column, you should. And his books are great.
