Gay blogger Mike Rogers has long said that former prostitute Mike Jones lied about having a sexual relationship with Sen. Larry Craig. Apparently, Rogers has a gut instict on this one. And yet Jones has maintained his story, and spoke out in a widely hailed Idaho Statesman article this weekend. Interestingly, Rogers is now heralding the article as well, but he isn’t yet mentioning his past criticisms of Jones. At least one of his commenters is calling him on his apparent backtrack:
Mike Jones must believe himself, at least. Mike Rogers, do you still not believe him? You were quite emphatic in questioning his honesty before.
Rogers has not responded to the question as of yet.
Mike Rogers is nothing but a glory hound. And he obviously needs to invest in a hair piece.

Jim here. My read on Mike Rogers is that he was totally floored that someone broke a story he had been teasing for month. (Yes, he is known as a big tease in the political gay community — recall he’d used to call up gay staffers and tease them that he’d out them, if they didn’t get their bosses to change their minds on certain issues.) His past bully tactics should now allow him to throw mud on any other credible journalists when he’s a blogger who’s done what he’s done to get famous.

The zingers about Mike’s appearance are uncalled for. He looks okay to me, and at least doesn’t grin like a hyena on TV like a lot of gay men do. The unpleasant thing about him is that he gets testy when others scoop him, or seem (to him) to get disproportionate credit for something. He also is not one for seeking good advice or heeding it: his own fan base on his own blog told him to knock it off with the competitiveness and bitchiness.
Ok, so like a blogger doesn’t believe Mike Jones. Ok, how about the 7 others in the Idaho Statesman’s story? Are they lying too? I am close friends with one of them, and you can trust every word he is saying. What amazes me watching all this unfold over the past few months, is how judgemental some bloggers can be. In this case, oh, Jones lied about Swaggart, so the whole story comes into question. What a stupid twerp Rodgers is. Luckily, in the end, he doesn’t matter. What matters is that what goes around comes around, and the bad karma Craig gave my friend that fateful night has come back and bit him right back on his excrement covered penis. Well deserved!
The people aren’t believing a word of Craig’s denials, and I would hope his wife, who reminds me of Eva Peron, realizes there is more to life than being married to a US Senator.
Rogers thinks he knows everything. You should have seen what he did to Big Head DC when we scooped him on Trent Lott and Benjamin Nicholas, Patrick. As one of our commenters once said, he seems to be over. And once he started cuddling up to Chris Matthews, you knew he was a fame hog.
