With polls showing his support dropping in Kentucky, Sen. Mitch McConnell is now airing a 60-second clip in the Lexington market with an endorsement from Alben Barkley II, the grandson of the one-time Kentucky senator and Truman Vice President Alben Barkley.
“As Majority Leader of the Senate, my grandfather had a tremendous amount of influence and could get a lot of legislation passed which was of benefit to Kentucky,” Barkley II says in the ad. “Sen. McConnell is a very powerful man in the Senate today. When one is in a position like that they can do great things for their state.”
Barkley II, perhaps wasn’t the best person to speak up for McConnell, though. “Back in 1981,” HuffPo reports, “the Barkley grandson was convicted of sexually harassing a young secretary.”
And, according to an April 7 UPI article from that year: “Alben W. Barkley II, [then] 36, asked his secretary, Ann Hester, to be his lover, asked to look down her dress on several occasions, once hugged her, and commented she looked ’sexy.'’”

Thanks for all the interest, LOLz. We stand by the story 100%. As I’ve already told DCRTV:
“I gave Radar three quotes yesterday regarding the Sam Donaldson story before they ran their misguided hit piece, but they chose not to run them, and instead said I didn’t return calls. My quotes still stand, and Big Head DC stands by our story.” He adds that his blog published the piece on Sunday, not Monday…..”
Also, I plan to clarify more once I hear back from Radar regarding their mistakes.
LOL. Rob’s like a larger than life journalism God, according to Ugh. What, he’s like 24, and he’s already written for like 20 places? Next thing you know, he’ll have had his own TV show on CNN canceled.
