“When I was doing research on Dick’s family history and I love family history because it shows you so much about American family history, I was looking at some Cheneys who came to Maryland in the middle of the 17^th century and one of the names that was sort of intermarried with his family was a man by the name of Mareen Duvall and he was a Protestant from a Catholic country who came to Maryland seeking religious freedom probably,” Lynne Cheney explained on the Fox Business Network today. “After I realized Dick’s connection with him, I later read a genealogical story about Barack Obama in the newspaper that pointed out that Mareen Duvall was also in his family tree. So, I went back and looked and, sure enough, this Frenchman was an ancestor common to both my husband and the Senator.”
