emily_harold1.pngHarold Ford, Jr. has popped the question to Emily Threlkeld, a young fashionista who’s provided big bucks to his past political campaigns, as Big Head DC revealed months ago. Flashback:

Big Head DC recently spotted the former Congressman from Tenn. celebrating his freshly-inked talking head deal with FOX News at a Washington hotel with his hotter than hot newish blond girlfriend Emily Threlkeld, a PR know-it-all at the Carolina Herrara fashion house.

When informed of the sighting, a past Ford muse (who he’s apparently worked quite hard to keep on the down low) asked us to look into how the deep-pocketed Threlkeld, who maintains residences in NYC and a posh section of Miami, got to know the hunky power player.

And - oh! - the trails a spurned heart heart will lead you.

According to campaign finance donation records from Ford’s failed bid for Senate in November, Threlkeld donated over $4,000 to help out the ambitious dreamy-eyed stallion.

While he didn’t end up getting that Senatorial seat, he seems to have gotten something even better - and much prettier - in return.

Both Ford and Threlkeld have yet to return requests for comment. But, really, can wedding bells be that far away? If Threlkeld can afford to lay down the bucks, you can bet on it.

  1. […] Being his girlfriend of three years would mean, of course, that Ford was dating Threlkeld throughout his Senate campaign of 2006. While there were rumbles of his dating “a blonde woman”, Threlkeld was not identified as Harold Ford’s girlfriend nor was it asserted that he was in a serious relationship. Threlkeld was not not identified until after the campaign was over and was then a subject of some derision in certain Memphis circles. […]

I wish them all the best, but I don’t think their marriage will be seen as a positive if Harold decides to run for the TN senate again. If he thought his race against Corker was rough…

What are you hinting at, colleen? Do you think her race or age will be an issue?

He will never hold state-wide office in Tennessee. A majority of the citizens (voters) will never accept his marriage. I’m certain he will do quite well financially, but his political career is over!

I think this may be a composite photo. Google Emily Threlkeld and check out her picture in the US Social Diary (or maybe daily) from 1/30/2007, and check out a party picture with a different person. Remarkably similar, isn’t it? Not that this is terribly important, but they should at least say if this is a composite!

As is evident in the current Democratic primary, race is definitely an issue still in our country, unfortunately. Because of this complicated issue, I agree that he will be hard pressed to maintain the political clout he has with that marriage choice. He will have opposition from white as well as blacks. As a matter of fact, I didn’t know much about Ford and I couldn’t quite get a grip on if he was black or white or one of those black republicans or from the old guard black elite (he is). When I heard it got married I had a feeling he married a white woman. So I think it is definitely a game changer.

However, in all fairness, race is a fictional construct. The Fords, although black in culture, most likely have as many caucasion genomes as those from Africa, if not more. Look at him, their children will be caucasian. He really has a right to marry who he wants. But, the world disagrees.

  1. […] Huckabee Does The Right Thing Jump to Comments Not content with making several apologizes via the MSM, Huckabee personally called Obama toapologize for his ill-conceived joke. And how did Obama respond? Huck told our Suzi Parker that he called Obama last weekend to clear the air. “He didn’t think it was a big deal although the media did,” Huckabee tells us. “He was very nice about the whole thing.” Huckabee connected with Obama through Harold Ford Jr., who was a guest on Meet the Pressalong with Huckabee last Sunday. “He [Obama] told me he didn’t think it was a big deal, that he knew I didn’t mean anything by it and not to worry. He was a class act and gracious. Too bad the people who blew it up on the Internet weren’t as classy or calm as he was.” […]
