Nick Denton Would Steal Crumbs From a Bird!

Editors and interns are jumping ship from Gawker Media, publisher of Wonkette, quicker than you can say, “Nick Denton loves Big Head DC.”

First, the lovely Doree Shafrir left the NYC-based blog earlier this month for the New York Observer, and now Alex Balk, another lead editor at Gawker, has put in notice as he’s heading to Radar. Also! Wonkette intern Greg Wasserstrom has left DC for NYC, presumably leaving Alex Pareene’s side for good (his writing is also starting to appear on Raw Story, we’ve noticed).

We must point out that all these moves come at a time when it’s been speculated by many media outlets that Denton is raking in tons of dough. Perhaps he’s not been sharing enough of the bread? After all, those Gawker kids have always been hungry for more!

In British slang, “bird” means girl or woman. So if Oxford grad Mr. Denton reads this, he’ll probably think someone is accusing him of robbing women on the street. Or something.
