Former MSNBC’r turned TVNewser editor Chris Ariens seems to be struggling to maintain the relevancy of the once dominant Mediabistro property.
Is it actually possible for him to leave the comforts of Secaucus behind him? Case in point — this week, someone was using the Tip Box to feed Ariens some relevant stories for the blog from Portfolio’s Jeff Bercovici — one regarding FOX Business Channel and the other an item questioning MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann.
Ariens, in less than five minutes, took the link regarding FOX Business Channel and typed as fast as he could to post it…. The Olbermann piece? Presumably still sits in the tip box, waiting for the light of day.
Now most blogs this week, including Big Bead DC, picked up on stories regarding Olbermann’s interview in the October issue of Playboy. Does this TVNewser not have the heart to go post against his former employer and post it? All signs point to yes. When Olbermann’s ratings returned to normal levels after the hiccup on Friday, did Ariens post about the return to normal demos? No — instead he broke news (via Access Hollywood) that Meredith Vieira will be returning to The View! Shock! Gasp!
Life support needed, stat.
