UPDATE, 6 p.m.: Tucker Carlson released this statement today, clarifying the molesting incident:
Let me be clear about an incident I referred to on MSNBC last night: In the mid-1980s, while I was a high school student, a man physically grabbed me in a men’s room in Washington, DC. I yelled, pulled away from him and ran out of the room. Twenty-five minutes later, a friend of mine and I returned to the men’s room. The man was still there, presumably waiting to do to someone else what he had done to me. My friend and I seized the man and held him until a security guard arrived.
Several bloggers have characterized this is a sort of gay bashing. That’s absurd, and an insult to anybody who has fought back against an unsolicited sexual attack. I wasn’t angry with the man because he was gay. I was angry because he assaulted me.
Original report, August 28, 9:21 p.m.: To shocked reactions and snickers from Joe Scarborough and Dan Abrams tonight on MSNBC, conservative talker Tucker Carlson recalled that he was approached as a teen by another male to perform sexual relations in a Georgetown Park bathroom.
When asked how he responded to the situation, Carlson said he asked a buddy to help him beat in the accoster’s skull. And they did!

I sometimes wonder why hate crime and gay bashing laws were put into effect. Now I remember. People like idiot Carlson were the reason. So fucking what if Carlson was approached by a guy. So was I — several times in college. You say “No thanks, dude, I’m straight.” End of convo. Why does this require a beating? I’d like the guy he beat up to come forward now and make Carlson look like the hater he really is. Asshat.
If we take Carlson’s behavior to its logical conclusion, we’d then have to say that women who get approached by men they find unattractive should mace them.
DC Satirist, I don’t know whether you saw this segment, but Tucker truly seemed to believe that a smackdown was the only justice that would teach his approacher a lesson. He said something about whacking the guy in the head. Guy, if you’re out there, do write in.
Isn’t it perfectly acceptable for a woman to slap a man for a crude or overly aggressive unwanted advance? Certainly a skull bashing isn’t in order, but it probably warrants a punch. Something tells me this guy in the bathroom didn’t politely offer to buy Tucker a drink.
No, I don’t think its “acceptable” for a woman to slap a man because of anything. Why wouldn’t the reverse be true then? If a woman says you have a “small penis” (which is many women’s idea of a brilliant statement when trying to win an argument) should a guy slap her? That’s crude and aggressive as well.
If you don’t think a woman should be allowed to slap a man for overly forward and degrading advances, then that is fine. I just wanted to be sure you were avoiding any hypocrisy.
