Washington City Paper employees appeared somewhat giddy today to discover their main phone number is listed several times within the telephone records of the alleged DC Madam.
“I prefer to take this as further proof of WCP’s tip-top customer service when it comes to Adult Services classifieds,” Mike DeBonis, an editor with the weekly said in the comments of the paper’s blog. “Obviously a happy customer!”
However, when Big Head DC recently spoke with Deborah Jeane Palfrey, she said she was deeply concerned that many other escort business that are likely illegal continue to appear within the advertising pages of the publication. (She contends that hers, Pamela Martin & Associates, was completely legal.)
“There are a lot of criminals still advertising there,” she said. “Someone should investigate them.”
Palfrey was also curious why her service was targeted out of several other known prostitution rings that she says operate in the Washington area.

One in-the-know media observer told us this afternoon that City Paper has already seen pressure to “cut down on the raciness” with its recent sale to Creative Loafing.
